I'm going to stick my neck on line here for a torrent of criticism and abuse. After reading countless posts over the pasts few months regarding the price to go and watch Barnsley why is it that we have a game tomorrow costing £15.......yes £15 and we're going to tow getting 5000 people there??? I appreciate the fact that it's only 2 week after Christmas but £15 to watch YOUR team in the f.a cup is a bargain, in my opinion! What do people want from the club? People complain when it's £28/£25, so the club reduce it to 15 English pounds and yet people still can't be arsed. A spoke with a pal earlier and he said he'd prefer to watch Jeff Stelling on soccer Saturday tomorrow, that really really pisses me off. In fact I'm going to go as far as saying that unless your totally skint and can't afford to go tomorrow and your just using a piss poor excuse of not going then you should be ashamed of yourself because a tell you 1 thing if we win tomorrow and get drawn against man had in the next round you'll all be queuing down to mount for a ticket won't you??? I eagerly await your replies...... By the way it's £5 for children (5-11).....that probably applies to a fair few on here then!
I am not going because I am skint and I do not want to waste even £15 on watching a team that has been picked by Flitcroft, I will not even be bothered if we win or lose, I have no love for anything that is in anyway related to Hillcroft what so ever. I may not be a real fan , but I dont give a frig to be honest.
It's a match where season ticket holders have to buy a ticket. If you'd sat through every game at Oakwell already this season would anyone be rushing to go out a spend more money on tomorrow's game. I suspect many are opting not to do so.
The damage has already been done. The £28 alienated many fans and it will take more than one unimportant £15 FA Cup game to get people back in numbers. If you go out for a meal and the food was crap you wouldn't go back in a hurry.
I'm still in traction, but wouldn't have gone if I'd been ok and it was free. As soon as I'm ok and Flitcrofts gone, I will go again.
I'm going tomorrow. I think £15 is a fair price for a football game at our level, so I'm taking advantage of it. I can't speak for anyone else.
It's a general football and FA Cup thing. Last year we were playing great football, had just hammered Leeds, were playing a premier league team, and it was 15 quid and hardly anyone turned up. Cracking game too.
People will stay away because the club has shafted the fans on price too often lately and that has put a lot off, a one off reduction wont get them back. Others will stay away because of Keith Hill and David Flitcrofts appalling record as managers which has put them off attending oakwell. Keeping Flitcroft on will 100% definitely have led to some people staying at home. Others will stay at home because the £28 is too expensive for them to shell out every week so although it is only £15 tomorrow they are prioritising their finances and will put the money towards a league game rather than a cup game. Others will stay away because they feel so distant from the club after the noises that have come out from the likes of Don Rowing with failed promises and absolutely no good news at all in years. Others will have their own reasons. Price isn't the only issue, there are many issues, but price IS a big issue and is related to many of the other issues. Charging too much routinely has had a huge knock on effect that the club has turned a blind eye to because they didn't want to admit they were wrong. The big question is have they done irreparable damage or are they willing to put a hell of a lot of hard work in to getting the fans back? I know which I suspect it is.
So if we do win tomorrow and we get man utd in the next round and the price is frozen at £15 would you then go?
don't worry though people it won't stop him having a opinion on the game if we lose, and by **** you better believe he'll voice it, just like quite a few on here
I'm not going tomorrow. It will be the first home game I've missed through choice (ie other than illness or family emergency) in 15 years. That encompasses league, both cups, JPT, friendlies and testimonials. Whenever the first team has been playing, if I was able I was there. Why not tomorrow? Well the current situation and having the Croft of Hillcroft in charge is a factor, as is the fact we're playing a team from the same league who we played recently, but principally it's because having been to Peterboro, tomorrow would represent a fourth game in 10 days - and I see that as excessive. Especially when I would have had to pay for two of them. Oh and I also have a life in which football is hugely important to me - but not by a long stretch the be-all and end-all.
I have a season ticket and could afford to go but refuse to do so. If that means that I am not a "proper fan" then I couldn't give a monkeys. I have been going to the well for over 40 years and seen some highs and lows over the years. However, I have never felt so angry about the way the club is being run. Giving players away, stupid release clauses, secret meetings with select supporters, all stuff that makes me stick 2 fingers up to the don and co. Still going to the league games and still believe if we got our finger out we could save our season. The folk in charge just seem to be sleepwalking to relegation and I can only protest by not going. The sooner the club is sorted out, the better. Don't think I will be alone in feeling very naffed off, but hope the reds win 5 0 and make me eat my words!!
I am a long-standing ST holder and choose not to go tomorrow simply as I feel let down by BFC this season, quite badly. If we win and then we draw Man Utd I have absolutely zero shame in saying "YES, I would go" and I am entitled to it and would be guaranteed a ticket. So, in as many words, this is the first chance I have had this season to say "**** BFC" and it not cost me any money......and that's what I am doing. I'll be in boozer at 4 ish watching results come in and having a few jars and banter.......guaranteed enjoyment.
Unfortunately due to the financial downturn and cash rich clubs in our league Barnsley FC are being squeezed out of this division, personally I think that keeping the club debt free in this economic downturn is a good achievement. Yes we have been on a slippery slope for a few year but without the aid of Patrick Cryne we would all be watching another team tomorrow. As for player contracts and clauses does anyone use there brains and think that agents totally boss what happens when a player signs for us, if these clauses were not added on then most of the players we have signed probably wouldn't even sign on. Players and agents know our financial plight and just bend us over a barrel and the fans just assume that we've gave away our players for **** all. If you feel the need to stay away tomorrow then that's your choice but a suppose we all share different views don't we???
It could be free tomorrow mate and we still wouldn't get more than 10,000, I think most people hide behind the price because they simply can't be bothered any more.
