change his shirt, get bandaged up etc. watching the boxing, the canvas is covered with blood from the previous fight. the next bout just carries on. is it just football being too protective
It's nothing to do with the site [sic] of blood - it's about possible transfer of disease, came about after the Aids epidemic. Can't speak for what they do in boxing, but given they allow continual blows to the head then a slight risk of infection from blood is probably the least of their problems.
Boxers have blood tests in the lead up to the fight, if the results show a problem, the ref is told and at the first site of blood the fight is stopped, if the results are all clear they just get on with it
I wasn't saying the rule was simply the site of blood; what I was saying was that players have to leave the field of play as soon as there is blood. I dont know why the same rules aren't applied in Rugby if it is a safety issue.
