The consortium interested in buying the club have insisted on anonymity until the deal is at a closer stage. The interview is with Dave Hodgson, the "middle man" dealing with negotiations. He has said that under the new buyers Hill would be safe and Cryne's ambition is for the takeover to take the club to being a "top Championship club capable of challenging for the Premier League". Hodgson obviously thinks a deal is close as he has said that funds would be made available to Hill for the transfer window. Hodgson was the agent that we used a lot to get the foreign players in and was also manager of Darlington on three occasions. The direct quote on Hill was: "Replacing the management team isn't on the agenda ... Keith Hill is doing a good job on a small budget and there's no talk of him being replaced." The consortium includes some Italians but is a collection of people with "different skill sets that would be beneficial for the running of the football club". They would prefer the deal to be done without details in the "public domain" and have praised the club for being run incredibly, incredibly well making it an attractive prospect for potential buyers. There are rumoured to have been three other enquiries but no official bids - the club refused to comment on the story.
Very interesting, sounds ideal to be honest, hopefully a good result tomorrow would make us an even more attractive prospect for the right people
I just want the speculation to end. I am relieved that it would seem that Hill is safe though; that was a priority for me.
Sounds interesting is one thing - but I'd like to wait and see what if anything happens Remember all those time our porcine neighbours in S6 had investment just about to happen... Also we now have two stories - one the consortium has its own management team lined up and Hill will be replaced, and now that Hill is safe - which to believe? It does sound OK at this stage but allow me to worry a bit unitl things become a lot clearer
Sounds very interesting and could be a massive plus to Barnsley Football Club and it's fans. Lets not disrespect Mr Cryne, if he thinks this is the right thing to do I'm fully behind him and the new possible owners. Italia Italia Italia.
New Owners = A new manager. If not straight away it always comes around eventually. New owners will always want their own man in charge..... All sounds promising though but im sure a deal is a way off yet.....
if hills dose what he says he wants to do in the last bit of his notes he'll be out of a job before long
FAO 'thereev' You have got to be the most miserable, my glass is always half empty numpty that writes on this forum !! You will be one of them that either leaves games 10 minutes early to see if there are any buses you havent photographed so you can add them to your collection or finds an excuse not to go at all !! The italian deal is a definite offer i can assure you !! Whether it comes off or not is another thing. Cheer up Victor Meldrews grumpy brother !!!
Top of the agenda The new owners should have these at the top of the agenda 1. Give Kieth and Flicker new 3-year contracts 2. Buy the ground back 3. Replace the west stand 4. Reduce admission prices and get bums on seats 5. Provide modest funds for squad strengthening If they try to go straight to number 5 (replacing "modest" with "massive") then all the clubs we try to buy players from will think, "Hm Barnsley... they've got loadsa money, we'll bump the price up." Result will be money wasted, club in financial trouble within 2 years, relegated to the pub league with no ground to call our own and a crumbling west stand. In short a disaster.
Re: Top of the agenda If a takeover did take place l would like them to concentrate on the off the field income streams and give Hill a budget so he can at least compete with the mid table teams.
Re: Top of the agenda Why would Hill and Flicker want a time limited contract as opposed to one that never runs out unless either side wants out?
