This Friday (Nov 29th) sees Mr Barnsleys 90th Birthday. Since signing for the club in February 1945 Norman has held the positions of Player, "A" team coach, Junior Coach, Reserve Team Coach, First Team Coach, Groundsman, Physiopherapist, Kit Man and general Odd-job and Maintenance man. To mark his 68 year association with the club, I've put together a little tribute. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCW-TBoHki4&feature=share&list=UUVtfxFcyuh0BXbcvxm1dUWw Legend indeed. The opening and closing images were kindly supplied by Keith Turner of Turning Images. Cracking shots by anyones standards.
I can't get the link to work, as it says it contains copyrighted material and won't play in this country!
Excellent TT. That Watford game that got called off, I was only thinking abart that tother day set off from Shoe in Wombwell and started to rain on route when we got to Oakwell we heard it were called off Waterlogged pitch, couldn`t believe it neither could the coach load of Watford Fans we were having a drink with in Supporters Club. Poor Buggers.
When I first uploaded it I got a message saying "This video is banned in certain countries". Apparently the Germans must have a block on anything Norman Rimmington related. Come on Fritz, move on ..............
Simply the greatest man I have ever met. When I was at college I used to go to the club to get a lift of my old man, well that's what he thought anyway. In reality I just used to go and sit with Rimmo and he'd have me in stitches for the afternoon. A truly funny storyteller and jeez does he have lots of them to go through. The promotion season he was actually booked to be on TFI Friday with Chris Evans but he backed out at the last minute, which was a real shame. He'd have been piss funny.
Not sure that`s what I was trying to find out, Lazy git I am I`ll have to get int loft am sure I`ve a programme from replayed game it had just a white sheet of paper, with new date etc, wrapped around original programme if I remember reight.
Brilliant TT, my dad saw him as a player. I interviewed him & Johnny Steele when I was doing my "A" levels, as I did a project on the running of the club. Remember the Anfield quote - still got the programme from that game.
That's going to be one hell of a party he has. You'd have to be the luckiest bleeder in Bedfordshire to get on the invite list for that.
Get a stand or summat named after him NOW while he's still around to appreciate it. An announcement at Brum game (he's Guest of Honour) would be fantastic - come on Big Ben, you know it makes sense!!
Party tonight. Flicker and the players are supposed to be going. Let's hope they're bringing three points back up with them as a present.
