Joined the 21st century and got a ring doorbell 3. Seems ok, if a little laggy.
Googled laggy-ness and it says to improve WiFi performance, remove obstructions like doors, wall and frames.

Looking for a handyman to remove my doors walls and frames :)

The router (mesh) is literally 5 foot as the crow flies to the bell. Any tips?

Eventually the lag doesn’t become an issue. It picks up someone coming to the door. Doesn’t really layer if it takes a few seconds longer to appear on your phone.

    The motion bit, I get.

But when someone rings it lags too. Which kind of defeats the object (not all the time, I must add)

Over time I don’t think it bothers you. I find it more awkward to talk to someone at the door to say we aren’t in. They will still do what they normally do.

Is the lag to the app on your phone or to a ring chime if it's to your phone theres not much you can do because it's the ring servers where the lag occurs if it's to the chime then it's your WiFi.

We didn't get a chime - I think I might. yes, you are right, the lag is to my app. Postwoman rang yesterday with a bag, I went down to answer and she was about 4 doors away.

    Thanks.

Ah that makes more sense. Mines never lagged for more than a couple of seconds.
