How and why has part of this song been been adopted by clubs across the country? Does anyone else find it completely pointless, irrelevant and irritating? The England trumpeter can't even play it right. What am I missing here?
Yes - to a song Not a football match! I can see no relevance to football, nor can I understand fans wanting to 'chant' something that is not related to their team. I( just find it bizarre, but since so many obviously like it, wanted to know why? First time I heard it was Southend in the cup last year, about 150 of their fans in the North Stand. It was quite amusing to do it back to them in their own back yard as we sent them down. Apart from that, I'm out of ideas...
RE: Yes - to a song well, normally you'd find some sort of lyrics relevant to the team are applied to the songs - at least something attributing it to a team. This is just being repeated constantly by fans of all clubs.
not far away... ... it was the favourite song of the England cricket team on their tour of India in winter 05/06 and it was adopted by the fans at that time. Sommert to do with curry 'rings of fire'
Andrew Flintoff played it all the time on a tour of india.... It was in the press and the barmy army picked up on it and were signing it at the games over there. I presume they came back to there respective footy teams and it transfered onto the terraces.
It's a decent tune... ...think it needs to be done properly though, scarves waving above head a la the kop in this clip. You've got to admit it's a catchy little number. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsH3tEmAu10&mode=related&search=
The reason Liverpool play it is.... When Liverpool were traveling to games the year they won the Champions league they took it in turns to provide the music on the coach as most teams do. Most players had modern stuff but however when it was a certain Jamie Carraghers turn his collection included Ring of Fire which everyone found hilarious and they ended up winning there game that night and they adopted it as there lucky song which they played before the games in the champions league. The fans soon found out about the song and the rest is history
