What a fantastic fella he's donated £500k to a kids charity so disadvantaged kids get a present this Christmas. Again what a great man.

The cynic in me reads that entire article like the crime time scene from phoenix nights. We're packed to the rafters but we're used to that being the most successful restaurant in the region. Open seven nights a week, coach parties and charities welcome. Alright Rio? We are busy tonight. Well we will be. We are Rosso, the countries premiere restaurant with Upmarket dining, cocktails and regular live music in an historic building with original features.
Massive bugbear of mine. Rich man gives nothing, tight *******. Rich man gives something, should have given more, can easily afford it etc Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What is there to be cynical about? I find players wages and wealth obscene but whether I like it or not he's become a very rich man through football. He didn't have to do this and while it may not be a fortune to him it will make a lot of kids very happy. It's a fantastic gesture in my opinion and I applaud him for doing it. I think it shows what a decent bloke he is.
500 grand is an awful lot of money, even if you have an awful lot of money so well done. A truly selfless act however is one that is done privately.
"£500,000 worth of toys" a) It's been rounded up from £450,000 and b) It doesn't mean he's PAID that much for them Still very generous, but there's probably more than meets the eye here.
Its a grand gesture whatever the background I use to think Rio was a bellend but you can't really knock this or the affordable housing initiative he is involved in. What boils my piss is how the media venerates celebrity volunteering and charity work but ignores the rest. On Christmas morning I will be manning a free food service for homeless people. No great sacrifice for me but one of the other volunteers a young lass cares for her mum on pretty much a full time basis is paying for carers to look after her mum while she does it. Wheres the stories about people like her?
