    Love singer Arthur Lee dies at 61
    =================================

    Arthur Lee, singer and guitarist of the influential 1960s band Love, has died in Memphis at the age of 61 following a battle with acute myeloid leukaemia.
    A Memphis native who called himself the "first so-called black hippie", Lee formed Love in Los Angeles in 1965.

    The multiracial band recorded three groundbreaking albums that fused rock, blues and psychedelia - the self-titled Love, Da Capo and Forever Changes.

    In the 1990s Lee spent time in prison for illegal possession of a firearm.

    But the singer made a triumphant comeback in 2002, touring the US and Europe with a new version of his classic band.

    Alone again or one of the best singles ever , Didn`t Arthur Lee make an appearance at Glastonbury the other year?

    Alone Again Or

    Yes, he appeared at Glastonbury a few years ago.

    There's a story behind "Alone Again Or" - in that Arthur controversially mixed out Bryan MacLean's lead vocal at the expense of his own. What you hear on the master is in fact Arthur's harmony vocal (and there is no actual lead on the record). Needless to say, Maclean (the actual composer) was not impressed.

    Of all the fantastic music made by Arthur Lee, "Alone Again Or" is not really his!

    HTH,
    Stephen

    Arthur Lee and Syd Barratt

    Two of my musical heroes dying in such a short period of time. Forever Changes is such a great album and i would recommend it to anyone on here who loves sublime pop music.

    It seems like the great eccentrics are all dying, who next?

    Another Bryan Mclean fact, he was the brother of Maria McKee of Show Me Heaven fame.
