Barnsley Football Club has been saddened to learn of the death of former goalkeeper Brian Arblaster.

Brian joined the Reds in April 1968 and went on to make 125 appearances for the Tykes. He was an extremely brave and spectacular goalkeeper over his seven years of service at Oakwell and is fondly remembered by the Reds supporters.

He made his début against Brentford at Oakwell in front of 12,405 spectators as the Reds achieved promotion to the Third Division that season.

In an interview with the 'Oakwell Review' back in 1980, Brian described his time at Oakwell as: ''My happiest seven years in football.''

Barnsley Football Club would like to extend its sincerest condolences to Brian’s family and friends at this difficult time.

RIP Brian. Before my time but he had a good career with us. Surprised it took so long for our official website to put that up as it was posted on here last week that he'd passed away.
