Another great gone. I'm not gonna miss you, recorded after his diagnosis was very meaningful to me as my Mum had dementia. She passed away a few months ago. I'm sad right now......

Mourned the passing of Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash
and the one and only George Jones. Along with Glen true Country legends every one of them.
Very very sad news indeed. RIP Glen Campbell.

Wichita lineman is one of my favourite songs. I remember reading that Glen Campbell said he never really finished it, that it was missing a verse and now when I listen to it I can see what he means. I think the record company heard it and wanted to get it out as soon as possible or something. Bowie borrowed bits of it for Starman.

He was also an accomplished guitarist. He toured with the Beach Boys when Brian Wilson was ill.

    Great talent.
Watched a documentary a few months ago which followed him from his initial diagnosis. He couldn't remember any of his ex wives and many of his family members. He couldn't tell the consultant the name of the american president etc, and typically made a joke instead. Amazingly though the documentary followed him through his tour: he continued regardless. He couldn't remember the words well so had an autocue. He could play the music though, his motor reaction remaining instinctive.
Awful to watch this horrific illness taking hold of such a major contributor to popular culture.
