RIP Sir Henry. Always came across as a true gent too. And with Frankel, what a way to go out with a bang!
One of the greatest trainers, too true, after taking over from his first father in law Sir Noel Murless another great trainer. RIP Henry.
My wife and I went on a stable visit to Henry Cecil's in the first year of Frankel. When we arrived we were told he had gone to Newbury for the races there and that we wouldn't see him but lo and behold he turned up and spent an hour showing us his horses. We weren't allowed anywhere near Frankel but he showed us his beloved fillies such as Midday and as always was very solicitous of the lady visitors all of whom wanted their photos taken with him. The fact that we were allowed to pat multi Group 1 winner Midday and yet go nowhere near Frankel showed how much he thought of that horse. A true gentleman.
In the 80s Steve Cauthen and Henry Cecil could nearly be followed blind so many good horses and fantastic to see Frankel the ultimate racing machine along with Midday and Twice Over in recent times. on At The Races channel 415 now. A special and down to earth person whose horses used to stay at Steve Nortons overnight on occasions when racing at Doncaster.
