Ritchie can only blame himself.

It's a shame it's come to this as he was a very likeable character but the bottom line is he was taking us down.
Anyone with any idea about football could see last season that players like Wright Richards Hayes Heckingbottom and Williams tonamebut a few werebarely adequate in League 1.
To expect them to keep us in the Championship was nothing but a pipe dream. It's difficult to argue with the comments made in the BFC statement today. Quite simply this squad needs major strengthening and Ritchie was not prepared to go out and strengthen it, therefore he must be replaced by someone who will. It's harsh but I'm afraid it's a harsh sport with no room for sentiment.
When the best idea you can suggest to fire us to safety is Danny Cadamartari, then I'm afraid it's time to go.
I wish AR well and I hope he gets another chance somewhere and learns from his mistakes here.
More importantly people need to get off Shepherd's back now and get behind the team.

Absolutely ridiculous !!!! If that's the case then Ritchie is the only manager in the history of football who doesn't want to spend money. And you believe that ?

Perhaps getting you promoted was a mistake ?

Yes people do need to get off Sheperd's back, if only to kick his arse.

Genuine question - I've heard it said today that he did the same thing at Oldham, showing a bit too much loyalty to the same group of players and not replacing people when he should have.

Is that true in your opinion?

The club wouldn't release a statement saying that money was available for team strengthening if it wasn't true.
I believe that AR could have brought players in and has chosen not to because he wanted to show loyalty to these players. Admirable but also foolhardy in my opinion when some are clearly not good enough. Having made that choice AR then has to stand or fall on his results this season, and the results don't lie.

    That said

I cannot for the life of me fathom, if money is so tight, how paying Ritchie off and bringing in a new man could possible help.  If we can afford to do this, we could afford to bring in some loanees at least.

Promotion last year was massive for the club and we cannot afford to let Championship status slip through our fingers.  The way Ritchie spoke before and after promotion, suggested he felt the fans should be getting nosebleeds at such lofty heights in the league pyramid.  This did nothing to endear him to me and as such I am ambivalent about his departure.

Nice, honest bloke and I shall be eternally grateful for his efforts which got us out of League One. However, what's done is done - onwards and upwards.

I have to agree I'm afraid. Whilst it is a sad day for all who have BFC at heart, Ritchie's stubbornness in standing by certain players who were obviously not good enough has cost him his job. We rode our luck big style to win promotion last season and nobody was happier than me. The day out at Cardiff will never be forgotten and to have the little'un with me in his first season watching the Reds made it extra special. For that a massive thanks to AR. But there should be no sentiment in football and 90% of us knew the squad was inadequate for the championship. Last summer was when we should have strengthened while we still had the momentum going. A glorious opportunity was lost and I fear that it is probably too late to save us now this season.
Hope they prove me wrong though. We need a swift appointment and then a miracle. Two in successive seasons....bit of a big ask I think.

Agree entirely, but I'd still be interested in an Oldham perspective.

Who chose your name for you? Did you pick it yourself, because it really suits you.
