    Dunt know what happened there but was going to say .....

    ... that's it then, he's obviously going cos a manager saying he knows nowt about it is like a chairman giving a manager a 'vote of confidence' then sacking him - i.e. it usually means the opposite!

    Honestly...

    ...only talk in the sandwich shop, but seemed genuine enough !

    Apparently, they've got £3m to spend. Perhaps we might be holding out for a large chunk of that :pff

    One reasonable explanation for that is Newell knows Shukes from their days in the North East, and he is going after someone from the Monkeyhangers !

    I've parked the transit van outside of the ground to take them all. I'm waving the fee today due to giving something back to the community.

    He got sacked from HPool for being useless,

    I think he managed to lose them the league despite them being well clear when he replaced Chris Turner.

    OK then, how much money do you think we would accept for Shuker, bearing in mind that he only signed a 12 month contract last year and could leave on a free transfer in the summer?

    Agreed...

    ... if transfer fees are based on the remaining value of a players' contract and Shukes has 6 months left on his, say he gets £3K a week, that comes to £78K. Add on some extra for the inconvenience and you get a fee of about £100K.

    I would be very surprised if we get anything more than that, and would surely snap their hands off, if they did !

    You're applying logic and commonsense to the argument. Since when did those two commodities go along with Football and transfer fees?
    Our board will want half a million to balance the books. Everyone will laugh at them! In the summer he will go for nothing and everyone will laugh again. We are so amateurish that we deserve to be laughed at.

    I think you will find that Chris is held in much higher esteem at the club than that. Do you think that it is just a case of accepting an offer that will balance the books, or looking to the long-term future and trying to keep hold of our best players to gain promotion?

    At the end of the day, all the board are really looking to do is make sure the books balance and that PC don't have to keep saving us. You have to remember that Shuker isn't exactly Mr Loyalty (if that exists in football these days), after all he only stayed last year after he found out nobody wanted him. He dragged his feet long enough hoping for the offers to come in. This therefore will be in the forefront of the clubs mind.

    Could Come Down....

    to a choice between two options.

    1. accept a bid of about £150,000 i would be guessing at.
    2. save him for a promotion push and lose him for nothing if we dont go up or possibly even if we do.
