    True

A squad of XI has enough when everyone's available though.

We don't need a centre half now Reids back from suspension and Kay is verging on full fitness. Those two at the back with Carbon, Hassell and Austin as back up, thats 5 centre backs, surely enough for a league one side?

    but...

    hassle on right
    austin on left.

    that leaves, carbon the sicknote.

    reid and kay

out of that lot I would only keep Hassle, Aussie and Reid. and chuck kay and carbon.

and when you look at it like that, no wonder we are always chopping and changing and never get a settled back four.

sod midfield and strikers, we have them in abundance, why does no one at the club see that the defence needs sorting.

    AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

    With our defence fully fit

We've conceded less goals than every other team bar Colchester, that record doesn't suggest the defence needs sorting.

Our Goals for record could do with a bit of an improvement though, and I don't think Windass will play as a striker anyway, I reckon he'll be told to make runs from midfield.

    Injured in training

So with all our defence fit we have:

3 possible left backs - Williams, Hecks, Austin
3 possible right backs - Austin, Tongue, Hassell
5 Possible centre backs - Hassell, Carbon, Reid, Kay, Austin

I'm not sure our promotion push requires another defender now Kay is fit. It definately did at Port Vale, an emergency loan for a centre half then would have got us 3 points that day. But now we're not so short on defenders.

fully fit being the exact point.

how often has that happened this year?

I agree, that we do have a sound defence when fully fit, but sicknotes left right and centre, doesn't let them settle.

and dodgy teams failing to break the net etc also contributes to appearing to have a good defence record.

I have stated it before, but we have been let off big time on more than one occasion.

our defence only looks sturdy when everyones fit, and this won't keep, I still think we will be found out if we don't get another Centre Half

    Yes we do. Fact.

We need experience. We need cover for Carbon who doesn't have the best track record regarding fitness. Kay & Reid prone to suspensions. Austin makeshift centre half. Hassle the best of the lot.

The wise old head Ritchie's talking about with Windass applies moreso at the back. End of.

A Report on the fight for promotion says:

Barnsley are another Yorkshire side pushing for promotion this season and currently sit 2 points behind local rivals Huddersfield. Based on a solid backline the Barnsley squad are starting to fulfil the potential many fans thought had been at their disposal for a couple of years. Boss Andy Ritchie has recently been linked to a move for Bradford's Dean Windass as he looks to cement his side's place in the top six.

Friday night we play Forest, if Kays fit, we have to choose two from him, Carbon and Reid. Then we have to choose either Austin or Hecks at left back. Imagine we choose Hecks, then we have a choice of Austin or Hassell at right back.

So we sign ANOTHER centre back tomorrow, and who's he going to replace? Reid, Carbon and Kay have been doing pretty well this season as our defensive record proves.

even moreso isn't right for BFC and the formation Dirk, as usual you're talking crap.

    That's just wrong.

A squad gets you promoted. We are neither good enough nor have enough cover at the back. Fin.

How can you justify signing a centre half now?

2 or 3 weeks ago yes, but if we go into Friday nights game with 3 Regular centre halfs fit, a right back who's best position is centre back, and an emergency centre back, how do you sell that to the chairman?

End of? Why coz you're seeing everything from one side?

No cos you are just quite plainly wrong.

Port Vale. Our watertight defence threw 2 goals in. The run in will be a test of mental strength. Currently not got that at the back. Experienced centre half would provide that. End of. Again.
