Oakwell chief calls for six-point start BARNSLEY boss Andy Ritchie is adamant that from the off tomorrow his team should learn the lessons of last season. Ritchie is urging his side to be smart out of the starting blocks against Swindon at Oakwell and next Tuesday at Scnuthorpe for an instant impact on League One. "We want six points from the first two games, a good start is vital, we want six points. A good start is what we didn't have last season," he said. Ritchie was delaying naming his team under the 11th hour for tomorrow's opening match against new-look Swindon but certain to start is new striker Paul Hayes alongside Daniel Nardiello. "Swindon have signed a few players in the summer, they had to with so many leaving," Ritchie continued. "The majority of their players will be new. But we've done our homework. I gather (Stefani) Miglioranzi won't play and that (Rory) Fallon is 90 per cent certain not to play. I expect them to attack us. "But we have to concentrate on what we're doing and that is attack with fervour and defend as we have done in pre-season." Ritchie restricted his summer deals to only three, including one signing, Brian Howard, from Swindon. As expected, injured Howard sits out tomorrow, as does Richard Kell and Bobby Hassell. As late as yesterday Swindon boss Andy King was still trying to recruit, with a midfield player the priority. But he conceded: "I have been trying, though it looks as though I will be going with what I have at Barnsley. "Lee Holmes was one player who I was trying to get. I spoke to Phil Brown at Derby but the answer was no. "Eugen Bopp at Nottingham Forest was another one we looked at." Despite Swindon's failure in the transfer market, King did sound a positive note with the new season a matter of hours away. "I am happy with where we are at the moment. The kids we have are coming through and threatening."
