Is it possible that the reason Ritchie refuses to sign anyone over the age of 25 is because he will feel intimidated. Ritchie, while a good player, was never a great player, nor is he a well recognised manager at higher levels. Any older player will probably have had a better playing career than Ritchie himself, a problem the likes of Roy Keane do not have to contend with.

Can see your point, but doubt that is a reason. The simple thought is that AR is building a team for the next 5 years not just the next 1-2.

AR had a fatastic playing career

Much better than anyone we could hope to sign at this moment. There were many times when I saw Ritchie sticking it in the back of our goal that I wished he played for us. Top striker.

Just hope he's still here to manage it then!

I think you've hit the nail on the head. More experienced players are more likely to question certain tactics than the kids are. As for the point about Adie Boothroyd, he and Ritchie are totally different kettles of fish. The Watford manager is an arrogant forceful character and Ritchie is a wimpish non confrontational type of person, there is no comparison at all.

to be honest, i'd prefer the team to be young. A team for the future!!!

You mean a team capable of winning the Conference in about 3 or 4 years time?

used to bang them in for Leeds (when they were good) and Man Utd. Hes also a legend in Oldham.

I wasnt around when he was playing but apparantley he knew where the net was.

Anyway what your saying is completely irrelevent to football management. Jose Mourinho never played profesional football, David Moyes/Alex Ferguson did, but they were ****.

Cant understand where your coming from

There are loads of managers who never had particularly successful playing careers yet signed players of top quality. If a player thinks he's too good to be managed by Richie, we don't want him anyway!

    RE: Utter Crap

The discussion is not that players think that they are too good to be managed by Richie but that he may have a problem with older players hence his reluctance to sign any!
