Andy Ritchie has insisted he does feel any animosity towards Barnsley.
Barnsley axed Ritchie as coach last week following some disappointing results, claiming he had not done enough to strengthen the team in readiness for the Championship.
Ritchie initially said he felt very let down by the club but he has now come to terms with the decision.
"I don't feel bitter and I've no regrets," he said. "It's part and parcel of the game.
"If you're a manager, it's an occupational hazard. Footballers get injured, strikers suffer lean spells in front of goal. You take these things in your stride."
Ritchie is looking to return to management, but not before he catches up on a bit of family time.
"I won't be rushing to get back in straight away. I'm going to enjoy a break with my family and hopefully get away somewhere," he explained.
"I'll have a little think about things then and take stock, but first and foremost I just want to spend time with my wife and family - it's the least she deserves because I've not seen her for a while."
