I am one of Richies backers but i am ABSOLUTELY AMAZED that he wont look at Shipperley!!!.
Shipps has stated his desire to come back to Oakwell through GS and i for one do not see the problem with a guy who has scored 14 goals in 23 games !!
A striker who could guarentee 15 a season linking up with Devaney and McIndoe could guarentee staying up this season.
I am worried that Ritchie does not rate him as i think he would be to the squad what Hendrie was when he arrived.
FFS get your finger out Ritchie and get some experience In!!!

Tin hat at the ready!!

agree, agree.....

and thrice agree.

We all know what he can do, Ritchie obviously doesn't understand the following Shipps had at Oakwell.

Apparently he thinks he is too much like Marc Richards. Of course he is, he is the original and Marc Richards could only improve from training alongside him.

I agree, the only doubt I have

.... is something somebody mentioned earlier today about whether we would just be getting him fit for Warnock. When Shipps is out of shape it isn't a pretty sight but overall I think we would do well to get him.

His record in the Championship is top notch and I find it difficult to understand why Ritchie is so against it. FFS he's on our doorstep and it wouldn't harm Richards to play/train with Shipps and learn from the experience or even sit on his arse on the bench for a month and have a rest!

Just hope we aren't regretting not going for him later in the season!

Maybe Ritchie isn't confident of his ability to handle experienced players.

mind you, in theory AR has a pretty good record as that type of player

should he not just learn from AR?

mind you i'd love Shipps back. Richards will never be as good as him IMHO

Makes you wonder doesn't it? .....

... I have every faith in AR, so far so good, but lack of experience could cost us in the long run, especially if we have a bad run of a few back to back defeats, that's when the old heads come to the fore and the young 'uns start to hide

"Ships has stated his desire to come back.."

When? Where?
Really think we should go for him - could be all Richards needs to learn that little bit more. What's wrong with having 2 target men?? I mean you could hardly describe Hayes, in the same terms as Richards or Nads, and Coulson & the others are different again. We need some nouse up front.

id worry more about his ability to sustain his body through 40 difficult and tiring games.

I remember Paul Harts comments on Craig Hignett when he said that he would not get 20 games from him when Higgy wanted to come back, if memmory serves me right Higgy played 30 games for Darlington and got 18 goals,

Does anyone else by me get the impression that the board and Ritchie are trying to wind us fans up?
