    Ritchie rues reds misses
BARNSLEY boss Andy Ritchie was today reflecting on the consolation prize left after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Chesterfield.
Ritchie's Reds climbed back into the play-off places as close rivals Huddersfield, Colchester, Swansea and Oldham lost.
Said Ritchie: "It's disappointing, we can't seem to score enough goals at the moment to get us a win. Everything else is fine, we totally dominated the game and created enough chances, it's just that we didn't finish them off.
"When you miss so many chances there is always a chance there will be a sting in the tail and that's what happened. The silver lining for us is that everyone else lost but it could have been so much better if we'd won."
Assistant manager Rick Holden added: "It definitely should have been three points with the chances we had. We've blown it.
"We are creating chances and what fills me full of hope when we go to Oldham next week is that we'll create chances and they'll start going in - they smash them in training all day long.
"I don't what happened. We've been snatching at chances for the last few weeks. But I'm sure they'll go in, they're good players."
Midfield player Brian Howard scored Barnsley's lone goal. It was his fourth goal of the season.
Holden added: "He's what we've been after, a goalscoring central midfielder. He makes intelligent late runs into the box so when the strikers have gone for the initial ball he's always there to get to the second one."
Top team Southend and eighth-placed Nottingham Forest won on Saturday. Barnsley, Oldham and Swansea all have 63 points. Forest defeated Colchester at the weekend. Forest are unbeaten in eight games and have won their last four.
"Forest are creeping up but others are dropping down. Colchester must be looking over their shoulders - there's still a long way to go," Holden reckoned. "We just have to regroup through the week and put our game plan together for Oldham and, personally, Andy and I want to go down there and put the Indian sign on our old club.."
