" We have a ten game season now and we have to look to win six of those to be guaranteed finishing in the top six - if we can do that then we will definitely be in the play offs if not the top two."

Can we do it?

I'll be very disappointed if we finish in the top 6

Same as I was very disappointed that we went to Wembley
Why
Cos Bassett had a good team and the easiest of run ins compared to other teams round us
Same as Ritchie has the better bunch of players but we may end up in the play offs
Lets hope we can grab the number 1 or 2 spot
Cos like I've said earlier - we haven't the mental strength or that bit of quality in the side to see us through the play offs

Not in football terms

1 and 2 finish are considerd automatic promotion
A top 6 finish is considered play offs even though it included 1 and 2 but dosen't really include these cos..........
Why am I writing this........!!!!

Football and nerves wise, 1st & 2nd are the places to go for, but financially promotion via the play offs is the way to go. Extra revenue from a successfull playoff is £200,000+++

Personally, I think 2nd is achievable, depending on Brentford's extra games. Unless Southend slip up, I reckon they're down for automatic top 2 finish.

while were talking about playoffs

who thinks they would be better if they included teams from the league above? i think they tried it in scotland. automatic promotion for top 2 relegation for bottom 2 the play off semi finals between 3rd 4th league 1 and 22nd 21st championship then the 2 winners meet in final.
i think it would be a fairer way of doing it

RE: Play-Off

This team is capable of a Brum type performance, if we don't go up automatic bring the playoffs on.

RE: Play-Off

Depends which team 'turns up on the day' if you know what I mean.....But on our day, we can thrash anyone.

I can just imagine Andy Booth heading the winner against us in the Final at Cardiff- and he would, cos the Barnsley defence have never marked him properly.

It was done that way in England too

Well top 2 up bottom 2 down - then the 3rd bottom went into playoffs with the 3rd to 5th teams. Thats what happened when it was first introduced. Dont know why it was changed other than I suspect it keeps more teams interested in the promotion side of things

RE: Play-Off - my worst nightmare

is that the Pikeys make a late run into the playoffs and we end up playing em at Cardiff.

How heart-attack-inducing would THAT be??

I wouldn't favour a Barnsley-Swansea Play-Off Final for the simple reason that it will be played in Cardiff and will therefore be like a home game for the Swans - the amount of support they'd receive from the Welsh would be phenomenal!

I still think we can win the league ,

but Southend looked very good beating the over-hyped Colchester.

Phil Parkinson , sounded like a poor mans Jose Mourinho on SKY.

I can see Colchester not making the play-offs unless they change their attitude.

It was done that way to reduce Top league by two teams

Only top team went up, and then 3rd bottom went into play-off with 2-5.

Reading came 2nd one year then lost in Playoff final to Oldham after being 2-0 after 5 mins in final.
