REDS boss Andy Ritchie gave his thoughts ahead of tomorrow's match with Preston.

He said: "I am not going to show my hand at this stage but I do not think that Daniel Nardiello will be fit to travel to Preston. He has been running this morning and he is pain free but we will not be risking him. We have a lot of games coming up in a short space of time so he will have a rest.

"We may rest one or two others but we will not weaken our side because the cup is still important to us as a club. We want to get a result and there has to be a winner on the night.

"We know how hard it is going to be. Preston are virtually a Premiership side and were very close to getting there last season so we know it will be tough but we want to give a good show.

"We want to do well and we want to win the game. I do not know whether we have budgeted for a cup run but the chairman wants us to get a result. We want to get through the tie even though we have a tough match against one of the best teams in the draw,

"It is a good test for us to see how far we have come. We did ok against Championship sides in pre-season but this one matters now and we have to be on top form".

Personally I'd like to see one of the 2 Nathans get a game up front, Flinders to play in goal, and maybe another young lad in midfield or defence. It'll be a good oportunity for them.

    pedantic Merde Tete sez....

...that was under Hendrie. Got knocked out by Wimbledon under Bassett when round 3 was played before xmas. Had a decent run in the Coca-Cola or whatever it was called that season before fielding a serverely weakened side in the 4th round at Tranmere and losing 4-0.

McClare and Tinkler making the midfield "tick" doesn't exactly inspire. But Eaden, Higgy and Appleby on the bench! Fckin 'ell! Who was Bengtsson btw?

A parcel had arrived for Morgan and that was the only way to get it on the pitch

    left back I think

Came, made his debut, f***ed off home (homesick?). His decision, not ours.

I can only remember he "looked alright". But I problies only saw him once (Wimbledon). Mighta been the game Jon Parkin came on as sub at centre forward.
