RITCHIE TO MOVE INTO LOAN MARKET

BARNSLEY manager Andy Ritchie will look to strengthen his squad ahead of this weekend's must-win clash with Oldham Athletic.

Andy takes the Reds into a clash with his former charges on the backof three straight defeats and without a goal in 365 minutes andadmitted he wants to add to his side before the weekend.

Speaking last night, Andy said: "We have not really picked up anynew injuries and we will have to wait and see how Matt Carbon reactsbut we will be looking to get a new defender in on loan.

"We will be moving in the next couple of days and we have somepeople in mind but we will have to see if we can get them to the club".

Laight and Atkinson must be well fecked off. Defence leaking goals and they still don't get a chance.

    True...

Perhaps PHart has said they are no good.

I worry that clubs don't want to loan us their young players...standard of coaching is not the best.

Rob Atkinson should be in the 1st team squad irrespective of injuries/suspensions.

If Ritchie moves into the loan market then God help us all, seeing as his signings have been pretty *****.
Thought he'd got the 'final piece in the jigsaw'

    RE: 4 games, no goals

We do need more than just a defender, but seeing as it has taken us this long to do anything, getting just a defender is better than nothing. I have been saying we needed a centre half from before the season started. Why we are only acting now is anybodys guess.

It might be four games, no goals. But it is also four games, eight goals conceded. We were scoring goals. But whenever we have been without carbon or reid, we have always conceded. So get some cover for the back, and goals 'might' come. Although dropping conlon for a nardi/richards/jarman/whoever might help.

He's missed out on Simon Francis

he's at Grimsby now on loan, and was awesome last night apparently, winning everything in the air and quick.

    Is it...

a lack of faith in our coaching set up at other clubs?

Or just that we don't have any contacts?

I think we always leave it too late

Wilson and Bassett were the last managers to use the loan system successfully. everyone since just hasnt been good enough. I could do better sat at my desk and surfing soccerbase.com. if we're serious about cutting our cloth, we should sack Martin Wilkinson straight away.

I'd do it for free, Gordon.
