Really, won't that go against his natural nature to go forward and attack?
He's been playing in defensive roles all season for u21, well when he's played for them.

Wonder how he feels about that? Reckon he could leave if another club offer him the chance to play in a more advanced position?
Reuben's a phenomenal talent, so I hope he embraces Flickers decision

No. Why? Because it is in a wingback's 'natural nature' to go forward and attack.

If there is anything else I can help with, just make a list and I will reply after I get back from walking the dogs. (domestic mammals, canine.) :)

I think he's natural position would have been left of a 3 in a 4231.

A left wing back's got to defend. That's not Reuben. 5 years ago for u18's he was a striker. Now he's a left back.
You can't influence game from Left back. He needs's to get on the ball.

I'm not sure he needs to train in any position, he could play just about anywhere except centre-half and goalie. I think his talents would be wasted at wing-back.

We need to get Mellis on some assertiveness training. He's got the skill but you rarely see him take hold of a game and properly dictate the play as he should be capable of doing.

Wasted at wing back? Like stones and Goldie? These were the positions that transformed our season under Flitcroft. And it was the loss of said positions, that derailed us. We've seen how devastating a good wingback can be

Think that will come with age, when he's getting the ball he looks great, but sometimes he drifts out of the game. Think he needs to learn to be more consistent and less up and down, but when he's on it I think he's class, certainly best passer in the team.

No of course not. That Ashley Cole? Not at all influential.

And who said anything about left back anyway? In a Flitcroft 3-5-2 it, essentially means winger. RNL is still learning and this will make him a more versatile player and more use to the team. He is already more accomplished in other roles, but he doesn't have the pace for a Championship striker. I know Flitcroft thinks the world of him, he's in good hands.

If we can keep hold of Golbourne, I'd suspect RNL would see very little opportunity on that position. For me, he needs to be in with a chance of shooting at goal. Probably the best striker of a ball we have since Butterfield and Davies left?

Flitcroft also said it would be "the making of him"

It's part of his developement into a multi positional player.

Pity you aren't bright enough in footballing matters to see that.

He's played left back in the u21's.
He's 20 in august. He doesn't need to learn how to play in 6 difference positions.

Ashley cole started out as a striker as do a lot of wingers wing backs and full backs. They have a massive influence on the game these days either overlapping as a full back or wing back so if flitcroft sees his future there he'd be daft not to take it on board and give it a go. He's not really played much this season as an attacking player so if he wants to carry on at barnsley his future may be in another position.
