Does KH not rate him... is he not fit? what the deal there then?

I wouldn't mind seeing him and Foster together at the back see how they get on!?

Henderson made Foster look a proper mug on Sat

I'd prefer Edwards and McNulty or even better for the manager to realise our defence needs strengthening and bring in decent centre half cover. And then a left back replacement for the bloke he transfer listed months ago.

Hill has improved us in every aspect except for our propensity to give away soft goals and throw away points against average opposition.

Henderson got free of Foster once all game

And I'd put that down to the fact that Davies gave the ball away in midfield which caught the defence unawares.

It is a strange one. I think he got injured early on (after a very dodgy start to the season) and doesn't seem to have been able to force his was back into the team. All the more surprising when you consider the number of goals we have shipped in.

Wasn't he also brought in for his captaincy skills? We are also sadly lacking in that department at the minute.

I guess he will be a "high earner" too?

He might well have done*, but watching the goal, both Perkins and Addison could have closed the player down who played Addison in and both just ambled across. One or both shoudl have been busting a bollcok.

*EDIT - There's no might well have done about it, Davies gave teh ball away cheaply, in their half. The point about the midfield "stoppers" remains.

I think that Edwards's main fault has been that he looks uncomfortable on the ball and lacks pace. With us now trying to play it out from the back for most of this season - I don't think he is a good enough passer of the ball?? Ive been impressed with Foster and McNulty at center half and would stick with them. Only thing that would change that for me is if Mcnulty went into Left Back and McEverly was dropped. Can't see it though.

He got free more than once

a headed chance from a corner in the first half and he shouldve scored just before he completed his hatrick, missed a chance in the box with Foster stood 5 yards off him. Ive noticed Foster has a tendancy to back off if the striker beats him to the first ball, thus allowing them space to come forward with the ball. And although the conditions and formation probably didnt help, his distribution was more hopeful than deliberate.

We are leaking goals, still. The common factor being Foster, imho.

Exactly. For the past few seasons now we've had Jay Mac, Sir Bobby and Foster as regulars in our defence. In the past few seasons we have continued to leak goals for fun and have a minus goal difference. All three will be some of our very top earners. That's why it wouldn't surprise me if Jay Mac wasn't given a new contract and the other two were shipped out given the chance. Hill knows our defence needs strengthening, but that can't happen properly if three of the back four have been part of the problem over the last few seasons. I can see Hill being brave enough to put together a completely new defence in front of Steele for next season.

I think McNulty is better where he is. If Keith thinks Foster / McNulty is our best pairing he should stick with that.

Unless we bring a ball player into the midfield, I can't see us continuing to play it out from the back much longer. I take your point though.

    We watched different games

I saw Henderson score a penalty, a goal from a poor mistake by Davies in midfield that opened us right up and an inexplicable pass from McEveley that played him clean through.

Foster could possibly have done better with the second goal, but it was a mistake by Davies that was the real problem.

We were crap on Saturday, but Millwall didn't batter us. I thought our defence marshalled their attack quite well and limited them to very few chances. We were undone by three stupid mistakes from our players: Addison bringing a player down in the box off the ball, Davies gifting them possession and McEveley passing the ball straight to Henderson.

I don't know what Foster is supposed to do when his team mates are doing that.
