opens the door for Horsfield to leave, very similar players. comes down to will Warnock sanction a season long loan....?
Makes sense would be brilliant business for us, but does Warnock what shut altogether or is he happy to hang on and see how season pans out?
I know he likes to chop and change , but even he knows he can't carry so many players for a single position.
I expect to Sheff Utd to play a lot of 1 up this season , which makes Horsfield even less likely to be even on the bench.

im sure horsefield or shipps are going to leave but i guess he is going to want to recoup some of the hulse fee. 3mill for hulse depending on appearances - seems a bit steep.
I reckon they could have got him for what Leeds paid , but in the Premier League it looks better if you pay more.
The more you pay for a player the happier the fans are, or so it seems.

RE: I reckon they could have got him for what Leeds paid , true - i think leeds will be happy with that. my in laws are all big leeds fans and they seem to think he's good but not amazing.
yep i was too i was waiting for it to happen to be honest, like you say - he must have someone else lined up. they've got a young player called Beckford who is very very quick and they thihnk he could make an impact this year but he's a very different type of player.
I'd be delighted with either but I think its now or never, cos a few other Championship clubs are in the market for that type of striker - Worthington at Norwich has said he's looking and Hull have just lost Parkin, broke his foot. comes down to whether Ritchie wants him and if 'we' want to push to boat out. he'll want double what McPhail was on, people.
RE: I'd be delighted with either Problem might not just be wages for him. Rumour is that one player (maybe more) has a contract that guarantees he at least matches the highest paid player at the club.
RE: I'd be delighted with either Was on or was offered ?
Mind, there's more than one way to pay someone.

Whilst I want us to sign a couple of players, I wouldn't want us to blow our budget then struggle as per Wednesday last season.
I wouldn't mind us going with what we have for the first few games just to see where we are actually struggling.

In terms of building some momentum going into the first few games, an experienced striker like Horsfield would generate a buzz around the place, and take the heat off the likes of Hayes, Wright and Richards, cos it'll only take a few missed chances against Cardiff for the crowd to start moaning. not saying Horsfield would automatically bring goals, but he'd take pressure of the others. an experienced centre half would be nice, but I dont see that on Ritchie's shopping list at the moment.
RE: Whilst I want us to sign a couple of players, should'nt Ritchie already have some knowledge as to where we are weak. Are you suggesting the team should play for a few games into the new season to establish whether or not we are in need of another striker.

RE: In terms of building some momentum I can't see how we can make it through this season without another solid centre half. An injury or suspension means moving first team players out of position to cover, but Ritchie doesnt seem worried. If we get a backup keeper, a centre half and a striker, I would be confident of staying up. Without them I am still a bit worried. But then again that doesnt matter, its what Ritchie thinks that counts.
As we were in a different league last season, Ritchie can only have an idea of where we might struggle.
However if go out an sign players for positions where "everyone" thinks we are weak , and the players we already have step up then essentially we have wasted money.
We cannot definatively know where we are gonna struggle until we start playing
