Just got back in and i have to admit that Mark was spot on tonight. The extra man in midfield at half time nullified Nathan Tyson who was by far and away the most dangerous player on the park in the first half. Also by switching Adam onto the right wing saw him muller their right back every time he got a sniff. Anderson helped out in the centre trying to quieten down Guy Muusi who is the equivelant of two men with his strength and power, just a real shame he gave the ball away cheaply in the 93rd minute which cost us a well deserved point.
well said, no complaint from robins, it was nice to see robbo giving instructions too, at one point they had a man down injured and play wo paused n he whistled t hammill and said go short for the corner when play resumes, he did and it didnt come off but on another day it might have, davey never used to input anything like that into the game
I usually just read this board but after peoples thoughts on last night I had to register!! I have totally got to agree with you two. Forest have spent roughly 8 million in the summer and we competed well for 94 minutes of the game. Tactics were spot but we just swithed off for a split second that cost us. We have got to be realistic, were not going to go away and take the game to a team with so much quality.
Personally i thought that when we went to one up front We got severly out played and got pegged back. The ball was being launched up to Andy Gray, who most of the time had no support because it took JGray that long to get forward. Anderson got caught in possesion a little too much for me, but having said that, i think we didn't deserve to lose, and i think we gave a good enough performance to get at least a point out of the game. It's wierd init, we've played poor in the last two games and won, yesterday we played well and lost.
I wasn't at the game but I'm usually suspicious when it gets stated that we "deserved a point". Did we create anything at all during the game, or was it backs to the wall again?
RE: I wasn't at the game Hume hit the bar early on with a free kick, Macken had a good chance first half. Second half Hammill and Iceman both had good shots saved, Foster should have done better with a header and Anderson wasn't far off connecting with a ball into the box. Thats just off the top of my head but I thought we defo deserved a point and the gameplan second half was spot on. I could have cried when Forest scored.
RE: spot on mate.. nt foster really should have scored with that header, completely unmarked and about 7 yards out
I thought they were better side. Our downfall was lack on midfield and both Hallfredsson and Colace had very poor games. We have half a dozen chances in the hour and half we played - nothing special about that number. They just shaded it and silly errors towards the end meant we didn't run the clock down properly. The one up front was a head shaker as it simply invited pressure for last half an hour. Butterfield in for Hallfredsson might have changed it a bit.
Agree, played too much long ball.. and too defensively for my liking rather than taking the game to them like we did against West Brom; Forest weren't that good and we allowed them to play. Really disappointed that Robins kept Halfredson on as he looked jaded and out of it and Butterfield should have come on;expected Robins to react to that but he left him on.
