<div class="ds-firstpara" id="ds-firstpara">BARNSLEY could look to Scotland to fill their vacancy for a striker.</div><div class="va-bodytext" id="va-bodytext">The Oakwell club have been linked with Livingston's want-away hit-man Robert Snodgrass. The 20-year-old, who was offered a trial by Barcelona earlier in his career, has rejected a new three-year contract at Livingston and is set to leave the Scottish First Division outfit. Snodgrass was a target for Premier League new boys West Brom, but their interest has cooled and it is reported that Barnsley, Hartlepool and Crewe could be in for him. Scottish clubs Dundee, Hamilton and Kilmarnock have also made offers but the Scottish Under 21 international suggests he wants to try his luck South of the Border. QPR, Barnsley's opponents on day one of the new season, are chasing Crystal Palcer midfielder Ben Watson. QPR manager Iain Dowie is at the head of the queue for the 22-year-old, who has rejected a lucrative new contract at Selhurst Park . Reading have also long been linked with Watson, who has a year left on his current deal, and the interest of other clubs could spark a bidding war for the former England Under-21 international. Eagles boss Neil Warnock told the Croydon Advertiser: "Ben has rejected our contract offer which would have made him the highest-paid player at the club and his agent is hinting to me that he might want to try something new. "QPR are leading the race, but two or three clubs have made firm enquiries about him." </div>
I like this bit of the Wikipedia article..... ......"Snodgrass was offered a 5 day trial with Spanish giants FC Barcelona in 2006 but did not join the Catalan side. Instead, he moved to Stirling Albion"
RE: I like this bit of the Wikipedia article..... Probably a guy who knows his own ability record. I don't see Davey being silly enough to go after an inexperienced kid that's scored 14 goals in 8 years. I give it until the end of the week before we hear from Davey denying it.
RE: 14 goals in 8years!! Dreamboy! nt He was actually 12, eight years ago! He has scored 24 goals in 71 starts since his debut at 16.
Seven wait on Snod Jun 22 2008 LEYTON ORIENT are leading the chase for Livingston striker Robert Snodgrass but are just one of SEVEN clubs chasing his signature. Livi want around £30,000 in compensation for the 20-year-old - a fee Orient and Dundee have already met. But Crewe, Hartlepool, Oldham and two un-named German clubs have also agreed to stump up the cash for one of Scotland's hottest prospects. Snodgrass said: "I won't rule out staying in Scotland but England or Germany would be a new start. Hopefullymy future will be sorted out this week."
