How does this club survive. Attendance was 3600 Saturday and nearly 1300 reds, they do very well to be were they are pulling in less than 2500 home fans.
They're doing an incredible job. It pains me to say, Keith Hill is a very good manager at this level. Wouldn't shock me in the slightest if he got Rochdale to the Championship in the next 2-3 years.
Hats off to you, you do well especially when teams like Sheffield United are pulling in 20k crowds and have been in this league for 5 years puts into perspective what a good job hill does.
I think if Keith Hill did get Rochdale into the Championship and then they get relegated he would still keep his job, where as if our manager did the same he would get the sack. Keith Hill has done a great job with limited resources.
Credit must go to Keith Hill. When he went back to them in 2012/3013 they were in danger of relegation to League Two and by all accounts nearing maxing their budget, which could have lead to financial danger. From that point, the whole club has put together a plan for them to be successful, this has included: promoting young talent from their academy and giving them the exposure; recruiting talented footballers who have lost their way; implementing a footballing ethos which runs through the club. Cannot be forgotten that they have sold the likes of Matt Done and Scott Hogan in that time too. Like some have mentioned, it wouldn't be a surprise if they reached the Championship. However, like us, I'm sure the riches of that division would prove difficult - like Hill said, the Championship is fast becoming Premier League mark II.
Top Manager we should never have got rid of in my opinion he did what nearly every Barnsley Person does day in day out and speak the truth maybe slightly arrogantly but it was the truth in all is Interviews etc etc , even if it upset the fans and sometimes the odd Board Member which I would have thought everyone from Barnsley would have got as they do that Day in and Day out but took it offensively and decided to turn on him which eventually got him the Sack but he has yet again proved it was a terrible decision on our part . Having watched most of Hill's Interviews on Player the message he was trying to get across was about the Financial Fair Play basically wasn't fair and other clubs were abusing it.massively and we were doing it by the Book and he was not backed by the Board when he built an outstanding Team which I think we will all agree was a Team playing out of there Skin which I think in all fairness saw the Truth about our Board and a total lack of any Ambition to do anything but survive in the Championship .
He's had a go at fans at Dale, we just have a go back for him being bothered enough to bring it up and accept he can't help it at times. The difference is he's consistently got results with us and we appreciate that his philosophy about how clubs should be run suits Dale perfectly. However, should we ever go through a poor run now there's nobody who will ever call for him to be sacked as he's without doubt the best manager in the bottom two divisions over the last 8 years.
keefy was out of his depth at us...we're MASSIVE.....well we are compared with mickey mouse Rochdale....and we still get hammered by em. jury's out on Leejay ....but we have to give him time.....at least for another 3/4 weeks til we lose at Blackpool!
