Book coming soon, signing at oakwell , was a decent striker for us in his later years... (lets ignore that he played for the massive) http://www.rodgerwylde.com/ The foreword is written by Mick McCarthy, who said: “I couldn't stand Rodger Wylde. For a kick-off, he played for Sheffield Wednesday, who were seen as the local aristocrats, and I played for Barnsley, who weren't. “He was the complete antithesis of me. He was a right Goldenballs before the term had been coined. But I have to admit that Rodger could play a bit. I always imagined he'd end up getting a tan and living the good life as a coach at Tampa Bay or somewhere similar. Just goes to show how wrong you can be...”
Mate, thanks so much for posting that. I just followed the link to his website and in the photo gallery there is a shot of Rodger scoring against Plymouth in 1987. That was my first ever Barnsley game, and possibly the first goal I ever saw. He scored twice that match, the other was a penalty but I can't remember which order they were in. Won 2-1 and went top of the league.
i as at that plymouth match too... early September from memory ? paul , it was a tweet i saw copied below Rodger Wylde @RodgerWylde 2h My book is available via http://rodgerwylde.com I will be doing a signing at Edgeley Park, Hillsborough and Oakwell. Watch this space!! RT
Excellent. Although I have a feeling I may have ordered the book when I first came across his website a couple of weeks ago. Can't quite remember. Old age...
