Reasonably good player. Not half as composed in front of goal though as his his twin brother Paul was at the back.
got fined and had to pay for dressing room door after kicking it in when he was subbed at Shrewsbury i think
RE: I thought he did that at charlton nt It was definitely Charlton. He scored a 1st half hat-trick and we led 3-0 before eventually going down 5-3! That's if memory serves me correctly?
just read about it here not sure how to post links http://chicagoaddick.blogspot.com/2007/10/memories-of-barnsley.html
go hat trick at charlton, then we beat southampton in mid week in fa cup, got liverpool in next round
Yep you're right. We beat Southampton 2-1 away on the Monday night after. We went a goal down in the 1st min before Steve Agnew sank a 20 yarder past Shilton for the equaliser to send the travelling fans wild (I was one). Gordon Owen got the winner from the spot soon after. The miners returned to work the following day after 12 months out.
one of my dads favourite stories is of him getting a hat trick then being sent off. Before my time, anyone remember it?
Ron Futcher - mid 80's Ron, Stuart McCall and a few BCFC players were with WAGS in VIP's nightclub in Bradford. I was quite merry so tootled over towards Ron with a torn beermat and a pen. He smiled as I approached, obviously loving the attention.
"Get us your Paul's autograph sometime will you Ron?" I asked.
It made Stu McCall chuckle.

RE: Nicknamed "Tefal" Aye he was. I was stood in the west stand one game and he came over to collect the ball. As soon as he was close enough i shouted, ey up tefal head. He just laughed and said by you're dry lads around here. It made my day
My agent is always going on about that day at Charlton as she actually went to an away match ( and Southampton 2 days after ). The plot also involved Ronnie Moore playing for Charlton which made it even more bizarre. Is it still the fastest hatrick ever ? It would take some beating. Apparently Paul once lobbed the ball into Barnsley's net over Clive Baker's head from miles out too.
Had a 'Morgan' incident after leaving us .... I think that it was whilst playing for Oldham and it was against Reading. I can't remember who, but he elbowed one of the Reading players, who incurred a serious facial injury (broken jaw?) I think the Reading players felt it was like the Morgan incident has been for us, as I don't think they thought it was sufficiently punished at the time it happened. When we played away at Reading (0-0), it was pay-back time, even though Ron had not been on our books when the incident happened. Their target was brother Paul (did they think it was Ron in disguise???) and the plan was to get him sent off. They managed it in the form of Senior, their record-scoring striker, who went down like a sack of spuds in a challenge by Paul, who never touched him. The Reading crowd played their full part in this and the ref bought it and sent Paul off. Travesty of justice. Clarke was furious and refused any further sanction on Paul. My other memory that day was Hazell, Reading defender, getting sent off. There had been an earlier tussle between him and Darren Foreman (hardly a hard man) and I said to my mate, "he's got a temper, that Hazell. You watch! He won't be happy until he has nutted Foreman." Within five minutes, Hazell had head-butted Foreman and was rightly sent off. Good 0-0 draw and good game for Jim Dobbin, who might have scored. Great late saves by Clive Baker to keep a clean sheet.
Ron Futcher kicked the dressing room door in because he had scored a hat-trick and Barnsley lost the game.
