messi may have scored in the champions league final and is a world class player that could probs walk into any squad in the world at the moment including ours (joke) but i still believe that ronaldo is the better player because of his goals and awareness to take on and beat players.

plus ronaldo turns up at the big games

    Ronaldo or messi ??

Thats the question on every ones mind

Don't Barcelona play in any big games?

I think Messi proved last Wednesday he's head & shoulders above Ronaldo much more of a team player as opposed to Ronaldo who tried winning the Champions League all by himself.

    Well for 9 minutes anyway

    Goals scored?????

Messi has only scored 54 goals in all competitions this year.

Messi is also the top scorer in Champions League, so I guess he does turn up for the big and important games - bearing in mind its the biggest club competition in the world.

Messi is the one who performs at a high level regularly IMO, even in the big games (not necessarily in CL). But when Ronaldo is on his top form he takes some stopping. But for sheer consistency it would have to be Messi. That is based on last season, season before it was Ronaldo.

    Messi for me

Don't get me wrong Ronaldo has undoubted quality, but his persistent whinging and the way he tries to con referees will mean he always goes down in my estimations. I don't think I've ever seen Messi complain, true professional and an exceptional player.

And Ronaldo did f*ck all in the final (well besides the early barrage of off-target shots), Messi looked far more dangerous.</p>

Also think for 'that' goal alone (the one that was so similar to the Maradona goal) he's almost impossible to match, no other player in the world would be able to beat so many players at such speed.

    I don't think Messi dives

Maybe at times he seems to go down easily (though I'd argue that too) but there's not a lot to him, small frame, not stocky live Tevez for example. Messi doesn't seem to roll around like Ronaldo does, or punch the ground in anger etc. Ronaldo is always whinging about something
