The 29-year-old, who began his career at Manchester United, is today "stable" in hospital. Although his injuries are serious they are not said to be life threatening. Detectives say they do not know, at this point, what type of weapon was used. A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Detectives believe this was not a random attack and are making further inquiries to trace the offender." The bar where the stabbing took place is on a canalside, Deansgate Locks, in the centre of Manchester, which is widely covered by CCTV. It is a self-styled VIP club, regularly visited by minor celebrities, footballers and models - though it is also open to the public, and busy throughout the week with customers. It is not known who Wallwork was with when he was stabbed, although he is believed to be friends with a number of current Manchester United players. Sources said police have a good lead on the knifeman's identity. Wallwork's agent Neil Sillett said: "The first I heard about it was when the press contacted me this morning and I've not got any details about the incident. "I've sent him a text today and hope he's OK. He was probably out having a meal with his girlfriend. What I do know is that Ronnie Wallwork is a quiet unassuming guy, never in trouble and this is quite a shock to me."</div><div class="va-date" id="va-date">01 December 2006</div><div class="left"><div class="inactive">« Previous Page</div></div><div class="right"><div class="inactive">Next »</div></div><div class="centre">Page 1 of 1</div><br clear="all" />
The police don't know what type of weapon was used but have a good lead on the knifeman's identity? Hmm?
He probably does, they might even get round to asking him after they've worked out what type of weapon the knifeman used. My guess is still a broken bottle.
"ive sent him a text today"!! silly lovely person...cant have phones on in hospitals...typical caring agent!!
unnecessarily harsh Ronnie will have his text messages set up to automatically be voicemailed to his personal phone in the hospital. You really need to catch up on technology (by the way - like they have at the club. Did you know that interactive whiteboards are now in common use for training purposes?)
Depends how posh the restaurant was... ...could've been a melon baller.</p> (oh come on)</p><p align="center"><font size="5">GET WELL SOON RONNIE! HOPE THEY LOCK THE Barsteward UP!</font></p>
RE: unnecessarily harsh You are going to find it increasingly difficult to understand that tactics at Oakwell then. Get yerself an IWB for Christmas.
I thought it was a fair shout, you know how football agents can be... ...you can't elminate the football agent yet. </p>
