Let's be right now. He protected the back four against two of the poorer teams we've seen at Oakwell and got through a few tackles. But he barely found a red shirt in 180 minutes of football.
noooooooo, he was the Messiah and proof that GS and SD know exactly what they're doing and are the right people in charge.
I didnt see RW v Ipswich but did see him v Southend. His performance IMHO was steady though not spectacular. However, the one thing he did have was 'physical presence' (most un-barnsley like when thinking of the usual six stone midgets we normally sign - no offence intended to anyone who is six stone) which seems to play as much part in this league as it did in Div 1 ((Ok , most of the teams are a damn sight more skilful than those in the Alehouse League). sadly, it's apity he didn't show more 'phyical presence' during that fateful night in that Manx Scally nightclub. Add in his experiece (again, most un-BFC- esque compared to the kindergarten we normnally sign) which could have added value to the team/squad............if 2 or 3 more of a similar ilk had been added on loan till for a few months I'm positive we would now be out of the zone and possibly in mid table. It's been quantity not quality since then and that's not just Brian Howard's weekly beer intake....... One final thought - I would have traded the 2 signings this week for John Hartson on loan till then end of season.
John Hartson living on his reputation and what he has previously achieved nowadays. When we played against WBA he looked fat, slow and generally ineffective, don't reckon he'll be of any more use to us than Pete and Steve. Also, he said the only other club he would play for was that of his hometown, Hull.
Apart from when he decided to turn our defender and pull a great save out of Colgan... Apart from that he's *****...
RE: Oh the confusion Hartson, Shipperley, Horsefield etc etc - the list goes on. Yes, I know all these players are no longer in their heyday but that's stating the bleedin. If they were they would still be playing in the Prem. There's no substitute for experience (and you know what Davey is like with his substitutions).
