Man in the Middle Robert Jones will take charge of both Barnsley and Brentford for the first time in his career. The Merseyside-based official was only promoted to the Football League in May after two seasons in the National League, this match will also be his first in the Championship. I hope though that, seeing as this is his first game at Champ level, he isn't bending over backwards to impress the assessors. I would rather refs just let players get on with the game and would turn a blind eye to the playacting. Man goes down writhing in fake agony - just play on. He'll be on his feet in no time.
Just watched the Ajax game a couple of hours ago; not sure about his name but he was a fantastic referee! We need some of those over here.
