Robert Jones will take charge of both Barnsley and Brentford for the first time in his career.

The Merseyside-based official was only promoted to the Football League in May after two seasons in the National League, this match will also be his first in the Championship.

So far this term, Jones has overseen 36 games in total, handing out 112 yellow cards and four reds.

So, either he will be just as useless as most of the others we have had or he will be refreshingly lenient for BOTH sides, letting the game flow. I hope though that, seeing as this is his first game at Champ level, he isn't bending over backwards to impress the assessors.

I would rather refs just let players get on with the game and would turn a blind eye to the playacting. Man goes down writhing in fake agony - just play on. He'll be on his feet in no time.

Just watched the Ajax game a couple of hours ago; not sure about his name but he was a fantastic referee! We need some of those over here.
