Wayne Rooney's Derby County (also formerly Frank Lampard's Derby County) have reverted to the name Derby County, with immediate effect.
In all seriousness, I wonder if this is a sign that their latest takeover has fallen through too! Not looking good for them at the minute.
I don't have a clue if its gone through or not. If I was to guess I would say the other way though. He can see light for the club so will leave.
Maybe so, could be a sign of them clearing the decks. Letting Rooney go would be an odd move though. Points wise, they were lower mid-table in the Champ.
According to reports, the local benefactor wanting to buy the club has made them a loan to enable them to continue trading. Pending his takeover.
Probably a sign the takeover is going through but new owners can’t afford him and the players he wants. I think the new guy already has bought the ground and provided a loan for wages.
He has resigned. Or do you know different. ? No mention of a pay off. Or mutual agreement to leave. That I'm aware of.
The ground was purchased a week ago. By the prospective new owner of the club. Clowes said a formal bid for the club will be submitted later on Friday (today), a week after Pride Park was bought from Derby's former owner Mel Morris. The purchase of the ground, which has previously caused major problems with attempts to sell the club, had been kept confidential until the loan agreement had been completed.
Fair play to Rooney if he's walked away without going through the motions and hanging on for a pay out, he's probably ready for a break from football after 20+ pretty intensive years. I'm sure he'll still earn a few quid from TV etc without the hassle of management.
Proof. ?. He forgo'd his wages of late. Could have stayed and took every penny the club owed. Unless they went into liquidation.
He l He leaves with his head high,a lot of coaches would have left ages ago. I think their budget will be lower, and they may even have another points deduction coming.
