When has anybody said Rooney isnt a good player? Do you want me to borrow a JCB from work for you, I know how tiring digging can be
I thought Gazza was the one he was spouting rubbish about. Where did Rooney come into it?? I can remember Rooney when he was bold you know........
Gazza is the only world class player England has produced in the last 45 years says Alex Ferguson. http://www.goal.com/en-ie/news/3941...-is-the-only-world-star-england-have-produced Clearly as Rooneys current manager and the most decorated manager in English football the West Yorkshire poster will find it hard to argue against the whisky nosed Scot. How will he respond?
You're getting a bit mixed up People have opinions on players, teams, formations, managers etc etc. They have them because they've watched football for a few years, and they draw their own conclusions. You and I might agree with them, think they're talking nonsense whatever, but at the end of the day that's all they are - opinions. We might be proved right or wrong but you know it doesn't really matter, we aren't having a competition - well you might be but nobody else is. And then there is you - taking as gospel the word from the latest current player or manager to speak as long as what they say fits in with your own prejudices - which is why you banged on and on about Robbie Fowler and then went into meltdown when Gareth Southgate hinted that Paul Gascoine might have been a decent footballer - you couldn't handle the fact that someone who played top flight football and represented his country could have an opinion that was the opposite to yours - it just did not compute. Once you've experienced a bit of life beyond SKY and MSN then you might see that different opinions are valid. You might think someone's talking crap but it's just a different shade of crap to that you or I are talking. There's 2 minutes of my life I'm not getting back.
“Wayne is a typical British player. But there have been British players who have great qualities that made them great players. Gascoigne, George Best, Bobby Charlton and Denis Law. Alex Ferguson. So there you go - Gascoigne was a great player. Fun this, isn't it?
"I know Wayne Rooney’s coming hopefully towards that, and once he gets the maturity." He also says that there, which to me means he thinks Rooney will get there and maybe pass that. Gaz, not sure where you've got that comment from. Maybe a link.

He does not in any way suggest that Rooney will ever pass Gazza. What he is actually saying (rather than what you choose to infer out of thin air) is that Rooney is not at the level Gazza was. Given that he actually manages Rooney and has won more medals than the combined armies involved in WWII (your criteria for expertise), you have to accept his opinion of him (and Gazza) as accurate. This logically means that you must arrive at one of two conclusions: 1.) Gazza was never world class and therefore neither is Rooney. OR 2.) If Rooney is extraordinary and world class now as you believe, then Gazza was world class as well (and better). So which is it?
