Other than his goal, which anybody would have scored, he was gash. I know it is his first game back but he seemed to have the same touch that he had in SA 2 years ago. He is poor for England more often than not. After the performance of the front 2 in the Sweden game I would have stuck with them and brought Rooney on. He hasn't done enough in an England shirt to warrant this certain starter status IMO.
Me neither - the way the media have hyped up the return of our "world class player" has been nausiating and he was probably our worst player on the night (OK I forgot Milner) The player we really cant afford to be without is Gerrard -he has finally been reproducing his club form for England and looked genuine class- Parker has been pretty decent too
Spot on our kid but you know the headlines will be along the lines of 'Roo better believe it' and other sh.it like that.
I would give him a 6 and that is being generous as he was the goalscorer. "Roo was Poo" would be my headline.
Not quite in the same league as 'supercaligobalisticcelticareatrocious' but you're on the right lines.
Gerrard has looked top drawer. He hasn't always done it for England, but he looks world class in this tournament. Impressive stuff.
He didn't play too many matches this season. Hodgson is a shrewd operator and he knew Gerrard would be relatively fresh.
