I don't know what I find more disgusting, that the FA supported his appeal or that UEFA accepted it.

I don't see how he should have any grounds for appeal. He petulantly lashed out and kicked another player. There is no debate it was a red card, so why should it attract a reduced ban?

The FA's support of his appeal is symptomatic of the problems with football in this country. It is another example of the sycophantic pandering to our "world class players" that is rife throughout all aspects of the game in this country, whether it be the FA (as in this case), the clubs paying them obscene amounts or Alan Shearer, Jamie Redknapp etc. wnaking on about how they are all "top top players".

There needs to be a rethink of our attitude towards the national team. We are not world class by right, and until we recognise this rather than shifting our standards (whether in regards to talent, application or attitude) to glorify whoever happen to be wearing the 3 Lions at that particular time we will continue to win sweet FA.

The FA are a joke, just look at the Morgan / Hume incident. The FA / UEFA / FIFA all utterly inept and incapable of running the sport.

So if one of our lads happened to t wat an opponant and gets a straight red and 3 game ban we ought to appeal it and have no problems getting it down graded then.

Apparently so. The FA would back any appeal surely.

I think this just shows how the FA are so out of touch with the real world. They appeal for Rooney, back him, even though his offence was blatant, then celebrate getting his ban reduced, while at the same time killing the small clubs off to ensure their baby (the Premiership) is the be all and end all of English football.
It stinks worse than Grimsby docks in high summer!!!

Well how can they not back this kind of appeal after this. The whole lot of them are completely out of touch.

I don't expect you to see the irony. And he isn't a key player. Better win % without him.

Is attitude is 99% of the time FIVE STAR. Anyplayer can make a mistake but its very rare he does. Hes not hit 5 star performance but the service as united as been cack for 5 week. Valencia seems to have gone backwards and lost a lot of that 10 yard of pace that can take you past players at the top level. Nanis the only for that can do something.

Hes also been injured which could work out for england.

Hemmsy this is a matter of principle for me. Would they have done this for Butterfield? No. What did they do when Hume was nearly killed? They hid behind rules yet here they are fighting rules to reduce the punishment of a player who was 100% guilty and banged to rights. They are a pitiful organisation.

Rooney would get in any team.

You watch a interview on revista laliga when xavi/ alonso/ valdes ect are on they all speak VERY highly of the english players and rooney inp.

Rooney or Villa its wouldnt even be a choice for spainsh, barca or PEP. It would be rooney evertime. It was mentioned on RL that barca or Madrid would LOVE rooney and a few other english players but they could afford them.

Rooney was sent off, rightly as well, no arguments at all. The punishment is a 3 match ban. Yet you seem to think because it is Rooney the rules should be relaxed, why?

He would not get into the Spain side on current form. He would not even get into Man City side on current form.

If Steven Foster gets a straight red on Saturday how many matches does he miss?

    3,
    3 is the magic number,
it does not matter if you think Rooney is a special deal he is just another player, a player that should be under the same rules as every other player.
