    He's joined Kettering Town as their new Assistant Manager. Good to see him still involved in Football. It wasn't easy for him in the mid 1990s coming through our youth ranks, as we had a good team.

    Little fact linking me and Rory....

    We were both born on the same day, same hospital (Pontefract) and his mother was in the next bed to my mother. (Apparently it was snowing that day in April)

    Came up against Rory numerous times playing against him as he played for Hemsworth. Was a tidy player but could be very tempremental as could I.

    I also nearly joined his team as well.

    I got the better of him and Hemsworth on probably the only game my dad missed. Picture this....

    It's pissing it down with rain. It's quarter final of cup. Extra time and the game is end to end and level at 4-4.... Then...... In the last minute of extra time....

    It was a cross from my team mate, and I lashed it on the volley, edge of the box right into the top bin.

    Carnage ensued and I was "piled on"

    Oh happy days.....

    @Metatarsal and I were a couple of years above Rory at school, and we followed his progress with interest, always hoping that he'd break through into the first team.

    He didn't quite make it with the Reds, but made the breakthrough with a few other clubs after leaving us.

    Good luck to him in the new role.

    Top man Rory,got me free tickets when he was at Blackpool,not seen him in years,he was living up north wi bird last I heard,good mates with my mate Troy Bennett(ex red).

    We were the very first.

    All started when one of my mates saw an advert in chronicle. His dad said get a side together from village and I'll organise it.

    And that's when it started. Late 80s

    Nobody has a team now. All lads in this village tend to go to Hemsworth these days

    I had the pleasure of playing in the same side as Rorys dad who was a great player himself at local level and if he didn't take to the demon drink might well have made it himself. Rory is one of the nicest kids you could wish to meet and I hope he has a great time in his new role.
