Rotherham are to name their new manager at a press conference on Friday.

Alan Knill paid the price for a series of poor results when he was sacked at the start of March, and Mark Robins was placed in caretaker charge.

The Millers have won three and lost three of Robins' six games at the helm, and the former Manchester United striker is in the running to land the post on a permanent basis.

However, the Rotherham board are believed to have spoken to around 13 applicants for the job, including Brian Little, Brian McClair, Martin Scott, Keith Alexander and Brian Horton.

Rotherham, who face Gillingham at home on Saturday, are currently nine points from safety in League One.
