I looked into this when Wednesday were talking about it.

Employees are allowed to do training while on Furlough. Employees are also allowed to reject the furlough, as it requires a temporary contract change.

For the first reason they're allowed to do it, for the second reason they won't be able to do it. No footballer will give up so much money. The maximum furlough amount is so far below what even Rotherham will be paying.

If any football club furlough"s staff then I fully understand it but I do not believe they should do it with players, I for one as a tax payer do not want to contribute to a clubs transfer fund because rest assured the clubs who do this will soon be going into the transfer market & spending our taxes buying players , it is bang out of order .

Don't forget that an employee can be furloughed and their wages topped up

Of course, but in the grand scheme of things I can't see that making any difference to football finances. Be like an employee on minimum wage getting a fiver towards their wages (an exaggeration but you know what I mean)

They may attempt it nonetheless I suppose.

Based on 20 players £50k a month for 2 months for club size of Rotherham would think £100k is a fair amount of saving from clubs perspective.
