<div class="ds-headline" id="ds-headline">Rovers games too much like Hassell</div><div class="ds-headline"></div><div class="ds-firstpara" id="ds-firstpara">BARNSLEY have had it bad against Doncaster Rovers over recent years, defender Bobby Hassell's had it worse. The Reds right-back can't recall a win against the Rovers in his entire career, never mind the dismal match days over the past two seasons when he's pulled on a Barnsley shirt. </div><div class="va-bodytext" id="va-bodytext">You couldn't blame the ex-Mansfield man for approaching tomorrow's South Yorkshire derby at Belle Vue with anything but relish. "On a personal note, I've never beaten them. I've played them eight or nine times and been beaten - heavily every game," he recalled. "It isn't a good place but we've said at training we've just got to treat this as any other game. I think we've been wound up the last couple of games. Discipline is important when we go over there, and our form at the moment is good. I'm sure Rovers will see this as a game they can win. They've beaten us over the last two seasons, they might think this will kick-start their season. Obviously we aren't going to let that happen." Hassell is not talking up Barnsley's chances tomorrow but they arrive at Belle Vue with only one defeat in nine League One games. "There's a feeling that the top two places are within our reach," Hassell added. "It's not been said yet, the manager hasn't mentioned it and not put us under pressure, but we're only six points off and we've got a game in hand over Southend. Automatic promotion is definitely possible. "We've said it this week in training that we've not really peaked, maybe only in a couple of games, but we're still up there. So, like we've said this week, if we can push on, and improve performances, surely we've got a chance of going up." Barnsley have registered back to back wins, at Notting-ham Forest and then at home to Bristol Rovers. "The Bristol game was a difficult one, they put us under a lot of pressure in the second half," Hassell said. "There were a lot of set-pieces, which we had to defend well, and we did that." "It's been good defensively all season bar a couple of games. I think we've kept the most clean sheets in our league. The game against Forest brought a real lift. They had the best home record in the league, I think, before we played them. We pressed them and were really on our game. " FIVE sent off in the previous four fixtures has stoked up the reputation of Donny v Barnsley. Tomorrow the man charged with keeping a lid on the rough stuff, the muggings and the wind-ups is Mark Halsey. Halsey's usual beat is the Premiership with a smattering of Championship fixtures, and in 24 games this year he's pulled out the red card five times. He last refereed a Barnsley game over at Grimsby the season before last. In the freezing snow he sent Barnsley centre-back Craig Ireland off after 15 minutes. Grimsby's Tony Crane was ordered off too. Final score: Grimsby 6 Barnsley 1. simon.meeks@sheffieldnewspapers.co.uk</div>
