    According to Sunday People

Oldham Athletic manager John Sheridan and ex Leicester boss Ian Holloway are in line to face under pressure Barnsley boss Simon Davey if he cannot haul The Reds out of the bottom three this month.

Davey knows October is a massive month for him and started off in perfect fashion with the 4-1 thumping of local rivals Doncaster Rovers. But Barnsley play Rovers again and Sheffield Wednesday at home this month and fans who chanted for Davey's head when the team were 1-0 down last weekend will expect maximum points from those games.

If he fails then Sheridan and Holloway are in line to become the Reds ninth permanent manager in ten years- if the Sunday People are to be believed.

Sheridan has transformed Oldham's fortunes since taking over the reigns at Boundary Park in June 2006 (his first managerial job)

Sheridan has led the Latics to sixth in League One and they will go third if they beat Hereford today.

Meanwhile Holloway has been out of work since seeing Leicester relegated from the Championship last season but he has an enviable record from his time at QPR and Plymouth. He also knows striker Iain Hume well after working with his at Leicester last season.

    Sunday People Article: 12/10/08

BARNSLEY boss Simon Davey has just a couple of games to save his job.

He was close to the axe last weekend before the 4-1 rout of Doncaster Rovers, but insiders say it may just be a stay of execution from the club's unhappy board.

The Oakwell club have looked at alternatives, with Oldham's John Sheridan and out-of-work Ian Holloway among those mentioned.

Davey took the Tykes to the FA Cup Semi-Finals last term but they flirted with relegation and are in the bottom three of the Championship with two wins in 10.

I just cant see it happening.......if I was PC I would extend Daveys contract

I would be shocked if Davey got sacked
If I was PC I would extend Daveys contract.......4 years isn't enough time

We are building and planning for the future. You just CANNOT do that my chopping and changing the managers every other season !!!

Ok, if SD got complacent then fine, sack him
But the players are still working hard, its confidence they are lacking
And confidence only comes form winning, and winning only comes from scoring goals, and scoring goals only comes from goalscorers

We need two proper strikers........with Hume on the right side of midfield
Get that and we will sail up this league because I haven't seen anything yet at the WELL or on the tele that is any better than the team or players we have at the WELL (excluding strikers of course).

4 Years is plenty of time... to ruin us!

If Davey got complaicent? What like coming off the back of every defeat claiming we were the better side and that we outclassed everyone who takes three points off us?

Davey is under pressure for a very good reason - his results have been **** for a long time (F.A. Cup distraction to one side). Managers who are producing **** results and consistently keep a side at the foot of the table despite spending money deserve to be under pressure. Extending his contract further still is silly talk.

If this betting scandal involves us, he'll have extra pressure on him.

I thought Young Nudger makes a good and valid point - he talks sense! I do agree though that at the moment extending Davey's contract any further is a step too far at the moment. Lets see how we finish this season and how we perform next season before contract extensions are discussed.

    Whats all this betting scandal?????
