Its all about that drama queen Jackson and his weepy family. And our goals were 'soft'? What the hell were Huddersfield's then? If Nardy's goal was a 'tap-in' then I'm Phil Cool. Though Shukes tripping up their mascot is funny. Dogged Barnsley savour the final word By James Ducker Huddersfield Town 1 Barnsley 3 (Barnsley win 3-2 on agg) TERRY the Terrier was not the only one nursing a deep sense of wounded pride at the Galpharm Stadium last night. The Huddersfield Town mascot was tearing down the touchline in celebration of his team’s equalising goal against their bitter Yorkshire rivals when Chris Shuker, a Barnsley substitute stuck out a leg and sent the poor dog flying. Minutes later, the agony was complete when two soft goals in quick succession secured Barnsley a place in the Coca-Cola League One play-offs final against Swansea City on Saturday week. That Danny Nardiello should score the decisive goal — a tap-in after a fumble by Paul Rachubka, the Huddersfield goalkeeper — was fitting, given that the former Manchester United striker has spent time on loan at Swansea. “It would be great to go to Cardiff and beat them,” Nardiello said. Huddersfield might have taken the game into extra time had Martin McIntosh managed to connect with a late cross that bounced agonisingly over his head six yards out and Peter Jackson, the manager, had reason to question the award of a 58th-minute penalty that Paul Hayes converted to put Barnsley on course for victory, but the home side were their own worst enemies. “I’ve had my family in my office in tears,” Jackson said. After a poor first half, the game opened up in the second period and it was Barnsley who made the breakthrough, though Jackson was convinced that Chris Foy, the referee, was wrong to award a penalty after Hayes collided with McIntosh. “That was the turning point,” he said. Huddersfield regained the aggregate ascendancy seven minutes later when Nick Colgan dithered in clearing a back pass and Jonathan Worthington deflected the ball under the despairing Barnsley goalkeeper. But Jackson will have nightmares about Barnsley’s second and third goals. Paul Reid was unmarked when he headed home Martin Devaney’s corner in the 71st minute before Nardiello poked home eight minutes later after Rachubka had spilt Brian Howard’s shot.
RE: Worst report ever. FACT ye thats report doesnt even make sense what was he watching??? hudds fan working for times me thinks!
It makes a change they hardly ever report on Barnsley games other than the usual league one round up of what the managers said and who had a blinder and who had a stinker. And they've obviously got something against Shuey cos he always seems to pick up the stinker tag even when he's done okay. Times Sport Reporting - Joke!
