    12.3.1 With effect from the 10th May 2004, if any Club shall:-

    a) have a manager, administrator, receiver or administrative receiver appointed in respect of that Club or any part of its undertaking or assets;
    b) have an administration order made in respect of that Club;
    c) have a winding-up order made in respect of that Club;
    d) pass a resolution for the winding-up of that Club;
    e) enter into any agreement with its creditors or some part of them in respect of the payment of its debts or part of them as a company voluntary arrangement under the Insolvency Act 1986 or Scheme or Arrangement under the Companies Act 1985; or
    f) have any proceeding or step taken or any court order in any jurisdiction made which has substantially similar effect to any of the foregoing;

    that Club shall be deducted 10 points.

    12.3.2 Where the Club suffers such action as set out in Regulation 12.3.1:-
    a) at any time during the Normal Playing Season, before the date of 1st March, the points deduction shall apply immediately;
    b) outside the Normal Playing Season, the points deduction shall apply in respect of the following Season such that the Club starts that Season on minus 10 points.

    Not sure what happens if they go into admin in the playing season but after 1st March

    the way i read it anytime after the 1st of march then it goes onto the following season. that way it would stop say if leeds went into administration now that they are already relegated, they would still be punished for doing so and not just finding an easy way to go into administration

    Looks fairly clearcut then

    After 1st march you take the penalty in the next season

    What you missed though is the appendix BC
    Paraphrasing from Memory buI think it reads like this

    If you are a big club there is a big clubs exemption as follows. You are entitled to work the system such that if a points deduction is needed - unlikely though! see ineligable player rules as applied to big clubs Leeds Utd and West Ham, The club can elect to take the points deduction at a time most convenient -eg if already relegated they can be added to the relegation seasons points.

    Obviously this doesnt apply to small clubs such as Rotherham or AFC Wimbledon

    If Leeds could get the points taken off this season...

    It'd make the rule completely pointless.

    So good! :D

    That's very poorly drafted.

    No mention whatsoever about what happens should a club enter administration between 1st March but still inside the 'Normal Playing Season'

    Seems to me that 12.3.2(b) should read: "At any time on or after 1st March the points deductions shall apply in respect of the following season ..."

    Then there's no doubt about it.

    Shoddy work there.

    inside the normal playing season therefore this year. Think that's why they are going into admin in the next seven days

    its terribly drafted

    it makes no provision for clubs going into admin between march 1 and end of may.

    RE: its terribly drafted

    It is so poorly drafted it makes you wonder whether it is not done deliberately for situations like these. A get out clause for the 'big' clubs. It will be a disgrace if they get away with having the punishment immediately.</p>

    It looks a million miles from clear cut to me

    There is nothing to state what happens to a club who go into administration between the 1st of March and 'outside the Normal Playing Season'.
