Heard Steele has signed for Blackburn and Mellis is also on his way. Anyone heard anything more/similar/contrary? After the elation of Huddersfield, I immediately began worrying that Flicker wouldn't sign and that we would not match his ambitions. Do we ever not have anything to stress about as Barnsley fans????
look at it this way luvvy Steele is regarded as one of THE better English keepers in Britain....and yes I include the premier league. He was in contract till the season has just ended. IF he is going , do you for one second think he would go to a sck of ***** like Blackburn. He would easily get in a premier side, maybe not a top 8 side but any of the rest.. so having said that I also think he is fodder for any of the touted top 8 sides in the Champs...and I for one cannot see Blackburn there this side of the Rapture.
Re: look at it this way luvvy Unless Steele is offered a 1st team Goalkeeper position, I don't think he'll go. Also I think most of the top players at Blackburn will be jumping ship when the transfer window opens.
Re: look at it this way luvvy Steele has just tweeted the following: "Well what a weekend that was! Thanks again BFC fans for everything and keeping the faith... Back at Oakwell tomorrow for a debrief at 10am.."
Re: look at it this way luvvy Load of rubbish! Blackburn with no manager surely can't be considering signing players! And mellis has another year left. I don't think he would leave unless a very very good offer comes in! We all seen how much it meant to these players at the weekend! With flicker in charge next season I doubt many players will want to leave!
No chance without a manager. However with Brian Jensen released and Lee Grant expected to sign for Derby County as early as this week it wouldn't be a shock if Burnley wanted Steele on a free transfer with the offer of first team football so they can use the Grant fee elsewhere. First team football, wage wise, wouldn't have to move from wherever he currently lives, more ambition than us, more money than us....
Ha ha. If he does he will be bright enough to see it for himself and we'd have to hope we match his own ambitions if a team with no keeper at championship level wants him.
How is it malicious to pass on information I have heard and asking for like minded people to discuss? F8ck me is this not a football forum any more?
I think both players will have admirers However, unless Blackburn have already got a new manager lined up, it'd be a surprise to see Steele heading there. Due to the delay (rightly, or wrongly) in sorting out contracts, it wouldn't come as a great shock to learn that some of the players have already lined up moves away.
Seems unlikely given Blackburn are manageress and hasn't Mellis got another season to run on his contract (not that that ever stopped a footballer from moving clubs). I think some of the responses to this thread are a bit off though.
