After watching his cameo against The Blunts and his performance on Satdi, he will never win another 50/50. Might not even win a 60/40. Clacker's gone. If it was ever there.
******** ******** ********. The lad's hardly played in twelve months, give him a chance to get up to speed and get his confidence back. Personally, I'd rather see him score and create goals than clatter centre halves. But naaaew, thas gorra be a clogger ter lek fort tarn.
Lets see after a run of games to get his match fitness up Conan. May just be finding his feet,so to speak after a lengthy lay off.
I said something similar on Saturday. Obviously hoping I'm wrong, as in both the games you've mentioned he showed glimpses of why we signed him and why the fans were happy we did sign him. Had a long, long time out though, and might just take an opposition player to go 'straight through him' fairly (not Michael Brown-esque) and to come out unscathed to get him ticking along again.
Think it was Wigan at home where he came on and was outstanding. All he needs is a run in the team I remember people slagging him off after his first few games last season.
I had no issue with his commitment or effort on Saturday. He was just playing against bigger, stronger players and left his shooting boots at home.
Clatter centre halves? Behave. Have a look at 0:33 and 0:43 and come back to me with your comments. http://youtu.be/77yzRFibmDw
Neither of those challenges were 50/50, they weren't his to fly into and win. But I will admit there were worse ones in that game that you could have picked if looking back on 90-minutes rather than a 3 minute highlight reel. I just feel it's unfair to suggest he's never going to go in for tackles ever again when he's obviously going to be a bit wary having just come back from a long injury lay-off.
I thought he was booked because he jumped in the air with his back turned and his elbow above his head caught the defender. Lineman gave it. I don't actually think he touched him and the defender took a dive.
To be honest I thought he went for a ball he couldn't win and jumped in to the man and couldn't really complain. Not sure how much contact was made, that's modern day footballers for you!
Good player I like him. It'll take at least half a season for him to get going again. Playing him as ano 10 on Saturday was a daft decision
He might be a luxury but he's got undoubted quality. Play him thru the middle at the top of the diamond and he'll sparkle. Scowen will do his tackling.
Give over. The bit before they countered and should've scored was down to strength not willingness to go into the tackle. From what I've seen his end product has always been a weakness but I like him. He has great dribbling ability and speed and I believe he'll develop into a good player with a good end product once he plays a run of games in the side.
how bad was Mawson's defending for their goal from 1min!!! Jesus. "Come on mate - come right by me - i wont tackle you and hey heres the room to cross it in the box if you want. Oh and if you want to just run right by me thats fine. Ive got the turning circle and speed of the titanic." Shocking.
Don't agree. First couple of games back from injury you're always going to be a bit hesitant going in for 50-50s, not that I think the clips were 50-50s in any way.
