Made his debut at home to Rotherham United on Boxing Day 1956 (1-1). Played in eight of the ten matches in the great cup run to the Sixth Round (Leicester City) of 1960-61 (Clarrie Williams played the other two). Born 25th August 1935 in Askern near Doncaster, signing from Askern Main Colliery. Played 1956-1960. Played 97 league games, ten FA Cup games and two League Cup games for the Reds. He was only 25 when he played his last. I have no record of why he finished, nor where he went afterwards. Dependable keeper with a place in the Reds history books, for sure. RIP, Don! Condolences to family. He is well-remembered here.

Gosh! In that case, condolences to you to! If you are still in contact with the family, take my earlier message on behalf of all Reds fans who remember Don.
Sad news indeed - Don was regular keeper when I started watching the Reds, and never let the side down. May he Rest in Peace.
