They are just average plodders for me. I know Gillingham have only dropped out of the top six for the first time last weekend, but really! We shouldn't be concerned about finishing behind them. How they, and the rest of them, have stayed up there is a bit of a mystery.

Ditto Scunny. I saw all our away games against them earlier on and we should have won all three. I remember thinking during the first two that they were certainties for relegation. Then, during the league match, it was the fifth of our notorious losing streak but it was still a match to win, not lose. They've done well since Mark Robins left but, even so, they are NOT better than us.

We have the baton in our hands now, and are in front, so it is just a question of running the last lap at a decent pace and staying ahead of those two. Not difficult is it? I'm not expecting Colchester to roll over for us but we must surely have more than enough to beat them, and by a few goals as well. Then it may not matter about the Wigan match, but we are quite capable of getting something there as well.

This is a very good Barnsley team that we are seeing. Whatever happens, it's been a memorable season.

Whoever finishes 6th will have deserved it over the season. Let's not get all billy big ********, if we were miles better than those two we'd be miles ahead of them in the table.

If we're truly a better team than scunny and gills it will show in the last two games. Over to you lads.

The most remarkable thing about this season for me, is not the fact that we have amassed so many points since the beginning of December, it's the fact that we got no points whatsoever for two months in what really is a terrible league.

How did that happen? I know that LJ didn't help by persisting with the 'one man up front' tactic, but I think a top half Conference league side would have got a few points in this league between September and November, so we should have managed a few draws at least.

It proves how bad a league it is by the fact that Burton have been top 2 all season and the Gills have been top 6 all season. Throw into the equation the fact that Walsall could still get automatic promotion, and we made them look daft at their place a few weeks ago. Very very poor league this season

Not really, just being a realist. I've been around long enough to know that we have no divine right to be at a particular level. All I'm saying is that we shouldn't have to worry about teams like that.

I'm sure Sheffield United supporters were saying something similar on Saturday, like "How are THAT lot above us?" :D

Why is it a poor post? If you've read my regular reports over the season you will know that I'm not one for making outrageous statements or trying to pretend that I follow a "massive" club.

I'm just making an honest observation that, surely, anyone with a realistic grasp of football and the teams in this league would have some agreement with.

It's a fact that we ARE better than the majority of teams in this league. Had we not messed around so much before Christmas we would be top of the pile. But we did, and we're not, so we have to live with that.

Whatever happens, it's been an experience and nobody who was at Wembley will ever forget that day. Promotion would just be the icing on that particular cake for me.

You will find that S****horpe are on a roll, certainly deserved a result at the Well recently, and should not be denigrated.

    They have obviously improved.

Wouldn't matter if Gillingham and Scunny were Barca and Bayern. Their ability or your perception of their ability makes no difference. Its in our own hands and we have to play Colchester and Wigan. Win both and we are there

I do regularly read your posts and they are usually well written and reasoned. Whilst I get your general point it's a bit off to suggest other teams are less worthy. It smacks of the massives attitude.

And by the same token they'll be worrying about what we do.

Results on the pitch only thing that matters that's why Leicester are top of the league , Burton look to be going up and Bournemouth live to fight another season

Agreed, the table is a fair reflection over 46 games. Gillingham will think themselves unlucky to drop out of the top six for the first time this season, but over the 44 matches thus far we are better than them. S****horpe are dark horses, but I have seen them three times this season and they are an excellent footballing side and it's no surprise to me that they are in the mix.

But I agree with Jamo, let's not get into the "We are a bigger club than you" scenario, that would make us sound like the Wednesday/United/Leeds massive...

What a crock of ****. Gills and Scunny are there on merit and if they beat us to the play offs then they will deserve it.

we are going to need at least a draw against Wigan on the last day but everyone would have taken that in December , I'd have taken 5th from bottom the way we were playing
