Sad tale - should be used as a warning to todays overpaid footie youngsters.

I met this guy a few times - last time he was in the Prem and he was always a top bloke and a total footie addict. This is his latest state of affairs after his failed suicide attempt last year. Whilst part of me feels sorry for him (he was genuinely a top bloke) I can't help thinking how can a man who earned thousands a week for MANY years struggle to pay a £165 fine. I fear for him still.

Then you read about the Man U youngster (19) who crashed his RANGE ROVER whilst over the limit at the weekend. A Range Rover and his own pad at 19 and he's probably thrown it all down the pan.

    I despair.

He got in a car and drove from Hull to Bradford after 2 pints and 2 glasses of wine, and part of you feels sorry that he's asked for 14 days to pay the fine!
Shouldn't your thought be that he shouldn't have been fecking driving?

Bit harsh ......... nowhere did I try to say the offence was OK. The offence was appalling and anybody who does it gets all they deserve. The analogy I was using was that of a man who has probably earned millions struggling to pay £165.
Sorry for getting my priorities wrong.

To be fair didn't he lose most of his money to his ex? Wife after he got caught shagging the barmaid and drank the rest?

That's been a bit of a steep descent for the bloke. He was an (admittedly awful) pundit for Sky Sports only a couple of seasons ago - now selling nuts and bolts?

I don't know what they spend it all on, Evander Holyfield had $350 million and he's skint.

From what I have heard about him I suspect the bookie pocketed a fair amount as well. Have also heard from someone who met him a few times that he is a really top bloke so this is very sad.

always thought he was a thick lovely person windass...proved right again. Crap pundit as well....anyone who drinks and drives deserves all they get..... look at that clown who laiked for plymouth, the goalie.... he killed two children ffs, crippled their dad and totally ruined a family.

Why these thickoid footballers who do this get any sympathy on here from star struck footy fans is beyond the pale.
That goalie is out now and leading a full life... them kids arn't i assure you.

ffs get a grip some folk...... nearly as stupid as the footballers.

As for windass...i bet he aint qualified to sell nuts and bolts..... should be working in Maccy D's tops...the stupid lovely person.

hth you all realise that most footballers (not all i admit) are basically a bit thick and removed from reality because of the obscene amounts of money involved.

I know he almost bet on Hull to lose at Man U when he was in the squad. But got persuaded by his own William Hill person to withdrawal the bet
